If you don't have to deal with deep snow then these will do fine. Definitely do not get them oversize...you will not be able to tighten them enough to stay on. They do take bit of effort to put on, even though Golda is quite good about having her paws fussed with. If your dog doesn't like her paws handled you'll be in for a challenge.
Note: we mostly stick to streets and paths - not much deep snow.
The width of these boots is far too wide for the length on my dog's foot, a standard greyhound. I should have gotten a medium, but I'm not sure they would be quite long enough. If your dog has a round foot shape, mastiff/newfoundland sized, these should fit fine. Just be sure they're the right length so you're not strapping the velcro over the dewclaw!
They're harder to put on than some shoes he's got, but they are more flexible which is a huge bonus. The stretchy tops seem to fit well in dry weather, but I won't be trying them in the snow to really test them properly.
I gave these one star because they do indeed stay on. However, they also collect snow inside the sweater cuff at the top which turns into ice balls around the leg. In addition, at the end of their first use, a 3 hour nordic ski, they were completely soaked. Finally, the bottoms have absolutely no grip. Whenever my dog would try to stop he would slide down the hill with no control whatsoever.
These boots would only be suitable for a dog in town or on a groomed track.
