Each of the characters is interesting and well-rounded, and possess a unique personality that keeps everything fresh. Each one has a purpose that supports the main characters and the storyline in such a way that there are no wasted words or characters to be found.
The narrative and dialogue are written with such care that every word has a purpose. I've thoroughly enjoyed going back and re-reading each book and finding the threads that lead to events and actions in subsequent books.
There is so much humor in each offering, some blatant, some sneaky, that one could almost, ALMOST, forget that there is an underlying menace (no pun intended) stalking this world. This humor gives good balance to the sometimes disturbing central premise of the stories.
The unlikely linchpin in all of these books maintains the original style and form throughout the series, merely growing a bit more comfortable in this world as time goes by, but not losing the quirks and mannerisms that enamored me from the first.
All of the emotions are covered in every book. All of them.
The romantic vein in each book is lovely, believable, passionate and often slightly ridiculous, but in a favorable way.
Now, specifically about My Angel. Of course, I waited on tender hooks for this book to go live, and I dove right in.
The newest couple highlighted are well fleshed out, easily understood, and lovable. Etain and Vivian's passion is intense, and the spicy scenes are very well done. They each bring something different to the table, and the author uses them to further the storyline that has carried through all of the books.
There are answers to some questions from previous books, but there are also more questions thrown out for us lucky readers to ponder on as we await the next offering.
I have read many books and many series. I cannot recall any instance from those that garnered the same reaction that I've had with this series and this author. I don't know how she does it, but I am thankful that she does. Bewitched and Bewildered is a wonderful escape from the real world.
Now to get down to business. Vivi the heroine of the story is a redhead and this should give you a clue to her temperament. Who knew that a scientist could be so bad ass. She is a sucker for helping children which is the only reason she has come to Noctem Falls. She has some burdens that she carries, unfortunately she believes that the sins of her father lie with her. If I were there I would have told her that was a bunch of bull. (sigh)
Etain our hero is a unit warrior her mate is alpha but a caring man who takes wonderful care of his mate . Watching her carefully making sure that that she doesn't over extend her self but not smothering.
The rest of the characters add dimension because they react in such a way to the race against time to find a cure against the virus that is affecting the city, you want to be there to help.
