This is pure romance at its best. ~Kathy Reads Fiction
A novel everyone should read. ~A Novel Review
I have never met a more swoon-worthy character than Will Stephens. ~Kathy Reads Fiction

From the Back Cover

If you got a second chance to be with your first love, would you take it?

"This is pure romance at its best." ~Romantic Reading Escapes

"One of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read." ~Jelena's Book Blog

From the author who brought you the national bestselling novel Butterfly Weeds comes the heartwarming story of small-town firefighter Will Stephens.

Will Stephens doesn't chase dreams outside of his small, Missouri town. He's perfectly happy with his high school sweetheart in his arms, his guitar and his quiet summer nights. But life for Will is about to change. He's about to find out what it's like to chase a dream--one he has loved since he first laid eyes on her.

A firefighter by day and a musician by night, Will balances his dangerous career with his weekend gigs, but his mind is never far from Julia Lang. They said their goodbyes years ago, but Will now hopes a song from their past will help Julia stop and remember a life they once shared together. His only fear is that he's waited too long to get his song to her ears.

After reading Butterfly Weeds and experiencing the emotional high from it, I felt compelled to read My Butterfly - Will's side of the story. My reading of My Butterfly began with a smile and ended with a smile, and the journey to get to that final smile and feeling of contentment was filled with heartache, tears, and an emotional distress that I haven't felt in a book since its predecessor, Butterfly Weeds. I even tweeted the author that I was a complete and total wreck trying to write this review. A. Complete. W-R-E-C-K. If I didn't know that I loved Will Stephens before, I certainly know that I love him now. It seems as though I held my breath throughout a large portion of this book. I know this because I found myself gasping for breath on more than one occasion. I have never met a more swoon worthy character than Will Stephens. Not Gideon, not Gabriel, not Ethan....I'm talking about Will Stephens. In fact, I think I swooned more in My Butterfly than I did in Butterfly Weeds, and I certainly did a lot of swooning over Will Stephens, then.

In My Butterfly, I was granted answers to questions about Will that I didn't even know I had, such as how Will became a country/rock star, who was the girl at the New Year's Eve Party, and more. My emotions were off the charts as this book deals with so many relationship issues: promises, regrets, true love, first love, fear of rejection, desperation. The Serenity Prayer came to my mind a lot in Will's circumstance regarding Julia, and his actions coincided with the doctrine of that prayer. The "what ifs" are something we have all experienced at one time or another, and Will and Julia both had their share of "what ifs," even though they knew the paths they had taken were the best path for them when looking back.

This is one of the best love stories I have ever read. Will's POV was just what I needed. If you are looking for a great love story then this is the one. Just be sure to have tissues handy. It will make you smile, laugh and cry. Thank you Laura Miller for such an awesome book!

I liked so much about this book. The characters were interesting and the storyline about finding your "one true love" at a young age was engaging. Much of the writing style was very good, but the author seemed to get carried away at times which made the same things that were endearing the first dozen times I read them, irritating the next 16 dozen times I read them (seriously, someone should count the number of times the author wrote about the expressions of the characters lips/mouth/smile while they're reading -- I'll bet it numbers in the hundreds).

However, there were also things about this book that didn't work for me. The apparently abrupt ending (poor Will must have gotten whiplash!) had me scratching my head but even more so, the unbelievably long and excruciating epilogue -- like the author was trying to force the reader to make a comparison between her book and Nicholas Sparks (a book I enjoyed but a movie I detested, btw).

In the end I give it 3 stars because I can't give it 2.5. The author had a nice idea and witty writing style but went too far and ruined it for me.

My Butterfly takes us on another breathtaking journey, down gravel roads, starry night sky's and shooting stars, to fire halls and goodbye's but leads us all back to one song and one place, where a man's love never faltered and his butterfly found her way home.

"You'll always be my butterfly right? You'll come back to me?" I asked
"I love you Will Stephens...I'll be your butterfly. I'll always come back home"

Laura Miller has taken her already amazing book and managed to retell the story from her heroes point of view in flawless fashion. I absolutely adored Butterfly Weeds, and getting to revisit one of my favorite love stories but this time hear it from Will's POV and have everything feel fresh, and new, yet still beautiful was phenomenal!

Yes essentially this is the same story as Butterfly Weeds but it is SO much more too. We are taken on the same heartbreaking and emotional journey but gaps in the time frame of the first book have been filled, scenes have been extended, story-lines added and a wedding and epilogue that you will love...."a million times a million, and to the moon and back"

Do you have to re-read Butterfly Weeds before this book? No I wouldn't say so. But if you haven't read it you definitely should before reading My Butterfly.

Will Stephens, that is really what this whole book boils down too and he has got to be one of the best heroes ever, the small town country boy! My heart broke for him in Butterfly Weeds, but with My Butterfly the emotions were amplified.

My Butterfly is Butterfly Weeds from Will's point of view and, even though I didn't think the story was quite as compelling as the first book, I still really liked it. Will has this incredible innocence about him; his world is simple to understand and he knows what he wants from it. He is loyal to a fault to Jules, whether she is with him or thousands of miles away with someone else. He never really falters in his belief that they will end up together. He still makes some mistakes that have a detrimental effect on their relationship and he does struggle with some doubt but, for the most part, he is steadfast in his belief that she will come back to him. What a guy.

Pull out the tissue box for the last few pages of My Butterfly. It is extremely emotional just like Butterfly Weeds was and just as beautifully written. Verified Amazon Purchase on Amazon.ca.
