Two carefree pals (Ralph Macchio and Mitchell Whitfield) traveling through Alabama are mistakenly arrested, and charged with murder. Fortunately, one of them has a cousin who's a lawyer - Vincent Gambini (Joe Pesci, Lethal Weapon 3, Home Alone), a former auto mechanic from Brooklyn who just passed his bar exam after his sixth try. Vinny's never been in court - or in Alabama - and when he arrives with his leather-clad girlfriend (Marisa Tomei in her Oscar® winning Supporting Actress performance), to try his first case, it's a real shock - for him and the Deep South!

In addition to being a great comedy this movie teaches viewers everything one needs to know about criminal procedure.
I doubt the movie was difficult to produce and shows what awesome work can be accomplished with good writing. A simple plot, good characters portrayed by solid actors that provides a ton of laughs.
The characters played by Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei are "Cousin Vinny and his fiancee, Lisa". Vinny has finally passed his BAR exam after many attempts. and has never but has never defended anyone before. Now he is tasked w representing his innocent nephew and his friend!
The movie is such fun and keeps you laughing with entertaining scenarios about staying in a tiny southern town, when the guests are only familiar with the huge city of New York! Pecsi and Tomei have great chemistry and their disagreements are hysterical!
The judge hearing the trial is played by the late Fred Gwynne, famously known by millions of kids in the 60's as "Mr. Herman Munster", of the comedy series, "The Munsters".
I highly recommend this movie!
My wife and I watch this movie at least once a year and consider it an all time favorite that keeps us laughing
and admiring the acting talent from every character in this classic film from the early 90's.
