This novella in the Beaumont series follows after Forever My Girl, so if you haven't read it yet, then this review or novella will be spoilery for that novel. I was very glad that Heidi gave Nick his own story, even if it was just a novella. Thought I would have happily read more. I liked Nick and wanted to know more about him, and was glad Heidi didn't make him out to be a complete bad guy, but just a guy with imperfections, just like all her other characters. That is one of the strengths of this series - flawed characters who grow.

Here we get to find out what Nick did when he left Beaumont and Josie and went to Africa for a year. Not only did we get to find out what he was doing there, but also get flashbacks to his relationship with Josie and the awkward time when Liam came back. I already felt badly for Nick during Forever My Girl. I felt like he got a bum rap for something out of his control. His jealousy and frustration in that situation was completely understandable. But I knew he must have had red flags during his relationship with Josie, and here we get to find out more of what happened between them, both before and after Liam's return. I liked how Heidi integrated it all and it really helped me to appreciate Nick even more. Additionally we get to see how Nick grew from that experience on a personal level and also had to own up to his mistakes, particularly with Noah.

We also get to see Nick's blossoming romance with Aubrey. I really liked the angle of this relationship. It was sweet and honorable. I liked them as a couple. I especially liked Aubrey, her gentle nature, her perspective on life, and the integrity she maintained. Their courtship was sweet and refreshing. I only wish we could have had more of their interactions, dialogue, getting to know each other, etc.

Ok I know I said I despised Nick after reading Forever My Girl, but after reading My Everything, he has sort of redeemed himself!

My Everything takes place after Nick left Beaumont in Forever My Girl, and is a short novella about him moving forward and falling in love. I really wanted to continue hating Nick, but he made is so hard in this book. I felt his pain over losing Josie, and how much his life has changed since going to Africa. Over the course of this novella, you see that him come to the realization that what he had with Josie wasn't true and forever kind of love, but he regrets leaving Noah the way he did.

Seeing Nick try to find love again, and then find it was beautiful. It shows that he may have loved Josie, but what he has with this new girl is 100% different and better. They both want the same things out of life, and they make each other better. Seeing Nick come back to Beaumont was scary, I was afraid of how Liam and Josie would react, and surprised with how they did. I can see these four finally moving forward and letting the past stay in the past.

If you've read and loved Forever My Girl and wanted to see what happens with Nick, My Everything is the perfect companion novel to read. It's a very quick read but was beautifully written. As much as I hate to admit it, Nick now owns a piece of my heart after reading this book! Can't wait to dive into the next book and see what is happening in Beaumont now!

I’ll admit, I wasn’t Nick’s biggest fan in Forever My Girl. I was rooting for Josie and Liam to get back together and to me Nick was just in the way. I don’t doubt they loved each other but it was clearly not the same level of epic love that Liam and Josie shared. Plus, I thought the way Nick handled Liam coming back and the whole situation with Noah was pretty rotten. Especially with the ultimatum he gave Josie about moving and then just taking off without a word, I can get why he’d do that to Josie but to do that to Noah wasn’t cool. So I was wondering how I would feel getting his side of the story in this novella. Turns out that I actually like the guy now and ended up feeling bad for him when I saw the situation through his eyes. I could sort of understand his reactions better when I got to see the glimpses of his and Josie’s past, I mean, how many times can a guy get his marriage proposal turned down before he just gives up? It’s no wonder he acted like an insecure jerk when the “ghost” of the guy he’s been competing with all these years suddenly turns up.

I like that this little story wasn’t only about him moving on and finding love, which was sweet, albeit very quick (but since it’s a novella I sort of expected a whirlwind romance) but to me the story seemed more about him trying to make things right with Noah and I really loved that. I like that the story covered the time after his return to Beaumont and getting to see him deal with seeing everyone again and trying to earn Noah’s forgiveness. Personally I liked the scenes with him, Liam and Josie and then him and Noah even better than the scenes with him and Aubrey. I do hope that now that he’s back and they’re all working on coming up with their new normal that Nick and Aubrey will be welcomed back into the fold as we move on to the other books. Time will tell but I did enjoy this quick read and was glad to see the other side of the story!

Unlike a lot of other readers I liked Nick in the 1st book. How he reacted during that book was how I would have done in his place. He was a man who had gave a lot to a relationship that he wasn't getting back equally in return. I hate to say this about Josie but she used Nick to be a placeholder in her life. He was good enough to have around but easy to get rid of after Liam returned. I am doing this review after Josie's and Liam's last story came out so I am referring to things from that story also. Some readers stated how strangely Josie reacted after learning they wouldn't be adopting the baby. She did the same thing after Nick left. Out of site out of mind....she didn't give any thought to Nick leaving; it was like he was never part of her life. The only person who truly missed Nick was Noah. To be honest Josie acted terribly to Nick and you find out how much she hurt him when they were together. She wanted him to be there for her but I don't think she was ever there for him as much....I really felt for him because he knew he had hurt Noah when he left but I hate to say this I think Liam really thought that when he moved to Beaumont and got Josie back and Nick had left that Noah would just going to forget about Nick and he would have Noah to himself...it didn't go the way he thought it would because as much Noah was glad to have Liam there and be a part of his family...he still missed Nick....he was the one who there for him for most of his life and he loved Nick and wanted Nick to be there in his life also....this also moved forward in the last book because Liam was still worked up about Nick still being a part of Noah's life....I really think Liam was jealous about how close a relationship Nick and Noah continued to have...Read more ›
