5.0 out of 5 stars Changed my perspective on parenting...Loved it!
By Celeste89 on May 7, 2021
I heard about this book from a friend who read it 2 years ago in Hebrew. She was so enthusiastic about it, that I truly suspected it’s not for me. But after reading just a dozen pages, this book charmed me and touched, even shook, very deep parts of my identity, as a mother to 3 children and as the child I once was (and still am, apparently).
It’s a unique book - a mixture of very personal stories, written very candidly, and parenting insights that are surprisingly very practical.
I found myself highlighting sentences and paragraphs, and told everyone that should to read it (ordered 3 copies as a present for my sister and two friends)
I Will definitely read it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars 54 chapters, covers so much information on children I want to raise
By Karma on April 17, 2021
Wife and I have gone through few chapters and are loving it. This book covers several topics those can give good indication on some goods that we should follow while raising kids and certain things that we should allowed.

Book is filled with 54 chapters covering several topics such as:
1. Listening to kids,
2. Kids wanting to sleep with adults in same bed
3. Avoid silence
4. Room for daddy
5. Dont worry too much
6. How to talk to kid
7. No spoiling
8. Life with screens
9. Protect from bad friends
10. Bullying
11. Quality time
13. Shaming

And too many other topics. Overall feels like this book is filled with 300+ pages full of information!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting
By Ellis Others on April 29, 2021
First of all TRIGGER WARNING!! Chapter two involves a story of a miscarriage and a stillborn child. I was not prepared. I should have paid more attention to the table of contents.

Second, the title really threw me off. I was expecting a piece about how to approach respectful, positive parenting, but it’s more of collection of personal stories from the author and how she thinks you should act the same way as a parent. There is no real explanation of why she chose her methods. I am a big Janet Lansbury fan, so I guess I am used to something a little more substantial rather than an opinion piece. I do like that she touches upon various topics even though each chapter is only a page or two. The topics of the book range from babies all the way up to teens so if you have small children, a majority of the book won’t be relevant yet.

Third, the editing is bad making it difficult to read at times. I find myself stumbling due to lack of punctuation and have to go back and reread sentences. In addition, there are no page numbers for each chapter in the table of contents (they all read 000), which is a shame, because the book chapters touch upon different topics and it would be nice to be able to go right to a chapter of interest.

Overall, I might recommend this book for a parent who has an early teen, but it’s not really relevant for younger children.

I’ve included pictures of the table of contents.
