Margaret Atwood is the author of more than fifty books of fiction, poetry and critical essays. Her novels include Cat's Eye, The Robber Bride, Alias Grace, The Blind Assassin and the MaddAddam trilogy. Her 1985 classic, The Handmaid's Tale, went back into the bestseller charts with the election of Donald Trump, when the Handmaids became a symbol of resistance against the disempowerment of women, and with the 2017 release of the award-winning Channel 4 TV series. ‘Her sequel, The Testaments, was published in 2019. It was an instant international bestseller and won the Booker Prize.’

Atwood has won numerous awards including the Booker Prize, the Arthur C. Clarke Award for Imagination in Service to Society, the Franz Kafka Prize, the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the PEN USA Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2019 she was made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour for services to literature. She has also worked as a cartoonist, illustrator, librettist, playwright and puppeteer. She lives in Toronto, Canada.

A funny, honest, dirt-under-the-nails portrayal of a mother and daughter relationship.
I would recommend to anyone who has an hour to burn on a dark night in November who may or may not be nursing a hangover.

I've often wondered if there is any relationship more complicated than a mother and daughter. It can be the ultimate lover-hate scenario as each one struggles to find her place without disappearing. I lost my mother far too soon, and I had sons but never a daughter. I found myself smiling ear to ear as I read this short but packed story. In so many ways , like these characters, I have become my mother. Today I think that is a very good thing! Thank you Ms. Atwood!!!

We all know what extent a mother can go to protect their childrens. Margaret Atwood has depicted such a beautiful mother daughter relationship in this short story. Sometimes there are fighting and mostly she is protecting her not only from the world but also from her teenage self decisions. She helps the child to be strong and careful by using silly expressions and tit bits. In the teenage we usually think and feel we are strong willed and capable of taking decisions which we feel is right about us however a mother knows what can be the repercussions.

My thoughts about the book: Characters are defined to an extent which makes the story believable and like the Title suggests 'My Evil Mother' author has defined her traits, actions and appearance in the same way. Ending is funny and heart touching as once the teenage girl who second guess her mother's word and action now using the same titbits to protect her daughter.
