About the Author

Melanie Shawn is the writing team of sister duo Melanie and Shawna. Originally from Northern California, they both migrated south and now call So Cal their home. Growing up, Melanie constantly had her head in a book and was always working on short stories, manuscripts, plays and poetry. After graduating magna cum laude from Pepperdine University, she went on to teach grades 2nd through 8th for five years. She now spends her days writing and taking care of her furry baby, a Lhasa Apso named Hercules. In her free time, her favorite activity is to curl up on the couch with that stubborn, funny mutt and binge-watch cable TV shows on DVD (preferably of at least eight seasons in length - a girl's gotta have her standards!). Shawna always loved romance in any form - movie, song or literary. If it was a love story with a happy ending, Shawna was all about it! She proudly acknowledges that she is a romanceaholic. Her days are jam-packed with writing, being a wife, mom aka referee of two teens, and indulging in her second passion (dance!) as a Zumba instructor. In the little free time she has, she joins Melanie in marathon-watching DVDs of their favorite TV programs. They have joined forces to create a world where True Love and Happily Ever After always has a Sexy Twist! The flashbacks in this novel take the reader back into the past to help gain a perspective on the present. Being best friends since kindergarten starts a foundation for lasting love that can't be denied. Jason has always tried to protect and help Katie, except for the one night when he was selfish. Will she forgive him ten years later? Katie has always trusted and leaned on Jason, except when she ran away ten years ago. Now she is headed home. Will they be brave enough to share their stories with each other?

This story is full of sweetness and lots of yum-yum action.

Meet Katie Lawson: an independent, powerful, San Francisco attorney with a tendency to get panic attacks. These panic attacks get even worse upon her return back `home' to Harper's Crossing; the town she fled ten years ago as a way to get away from some painful circumstances.

The second she gets home she comes face to face with the object of her pain and fears: Jason Sloan. Jason was her first (kinder garden) crush, her knight in shining armor, and the reason she left town. The guy is all kinds of sexy, and just his simple touch and scorching eyes are enough to send our little Katie to the edge of madness. Katie does her best to stay away from Jason, a task made even more difficult by the fact that they're the respective best-man and maid-of-honor at her friend's wedding.

The author does an amazing job at establishing great chemistry between these characters. She uses well-timed flashbacks to help us understand how their childhood love grew, and what obstacles and misunderstandings kept them apart over the years. It's easy to see, without a doubt, that Jason is absolutely crazy about Katie. As the story develops, we get to see that Katie has just been as crazy about him.

I was looking forward to reading this purchase, the synopsis was very interesting and I love reading about reuniting love etc, but I found this novel fell flat. I could not get into the characters and their angst, I found myself skipping pages and skim read to the finish.

The whole book was over 4 days, and yet everything is sooo drawn out. The plot got boring, the characters became dull esp Katie.

holy god, this was a crappy book. I REALLY tried to get through this, the premise sounded really good; but the reality was horrible. First off, Katie was without question a horrible leading female character. She is supposed to be a lawyer, but she absolutely CANNOT talk to Jason about what happened between them in the past. I never did find out what really happened, but I wouldn't be surprised if she is literally running from talking to him because they dry-humped when they were teenagers. She's that emotionally stunted. Jason seemed like a weak, but decent character, too bad we got very little time from his perspective. I'm not sure if it was the characters that I couldn't connect with, or the authors writing style. Mainly I just enjoy 28 year old characters to behave like they graduated from middle school, and those characters weren't in this book.

My First - Jason & Katie is a story about forgiving yourself and going after what you want. After leaving ten years ago, Katie Lawson is back home for her friend's wedding and forced to face her past and the reason she left. Jason Sloan has been in love Katie his whole life, and now that she's back he wont stop until she knows how he feels.

This is a great summer read! It's cute and sweet, but also gave the characters some depth that lets you connect with them and feel for them. I would suggest it to anyone who wants a cute, easy read. The only thing that wasn't so great is that the whole story takes place in just a few days, which means things have to be sped up quite a bit. Also, it's written in a third person narrative, which I don't usually like, but I didn't have a big problem with it this time. But overall, I liked it; it was good, not great, but I still enjoyed reading it.

Personally, I didn't care for it. It seemed that the book pretty much just repeated the same thing over and over and over. Katie dated Nick when she was young and he died in an accident. Her BFF was Jason, who was secretly in love with her. Katie was pretty annoying. I got so tired of reading about the accident and how she felt. I get that people want the formula of girl loves guy, something bad happens, girl runs away, both pine over the lost love, then girl and boy get back together....ta da! HEA. But I couldn't get past the repetitiveness and how much of a wuss Katie was. I started skimming just to get to parts where Katie and Jason actually spoke to each other for more than one line. Storyline just didn't pull me in. Sorry :(
