This would be a good book for anyone going through a struggle with impersonal beauracracies. The author's reflections will encourage you, even as Dr. Babalola received encouragement in amazing ways throughout her ordeal. And, though she is effusive in her praise, she is also honest about her fears and discouragement. She is a woman of faith with whom you can relate and sympathize.
Throughout her struggle to obtain her green card, Dr. Babalola was rewarded with many hard-won lessons about God's grace, which she shares with readers. "Truly, you're my God, even in the last minute," she says in praise. "You are never late. I love you."
I ordered a copy for myself last Christmas, but it arrived at a very busy and chaotic time. Things got so busy that with time, I hardly went back to read it after making it through the first few pages. Then last week I fished it out of my bedside drawer and began to flip through the pages. What I found left me questioning why I let it sit there for so long. But, of course, everything happens for a reason. I began to carry MyGelm with me on my commutes to and from work, and it became my source of inspiration and upliftment through each day. The Biblical passages fit each trying moment the author describes, and each word of encouragement can be used even if your circumstance has nothing to do with immigration - because the message is simple: God is always on time!
MyGelm is a hidden treasure, and those who find and read it are blessed beyond measure. I know I was.
Dolapo's story is a reminder of the fact that God never promised a smooth sail through life; rather, He promises a safe landing if we only trust in Him. In life, sometimes, in order to reach our "roses", we may have to go through some "thorns". God uses these "thorns" to prune and groom us into what He desires us to be. Like gold, when it is passed through fire, comes out purer and more refined, so are we, when we pass through various difficulties like Dolapo.
The last chapter of the book is really a "honey pot", as here, Dolapo submits that really and truly, purpose in life cannot be attained from mundane things such as even a U.S. green card which she so much desires. So while she still seeks the green card, she realizes that it is in God Almighty that her life's purpose can be found. She is thus no longer anxious and fretful, but is finding peace and hope in God alone. Also, in this chapter, she shares with us some precious life lessons that she garnered along the way on this journey of faith. I consider these "pearls" indeed, as she has referred to them.
MGELM is a refreshing word of hope and encouragement to everyone who is a "card-carrying member of the human race". It is a reminder that our creator is indeed very mindful of each of us and will put us through our difficulties if we only trust in Him. His answers may not come how and when we desire, but He's definitely got our backs. I am sure I will read and re-read this book again and again as I continue on this journey called LIFE; and I definitely encourage all and sundry to pick a copy. It will definitely bless you and help you along your own journey.
No matter what challenge we are facing God is faithful to complete what he has started in us and that is the message I got from her book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs encouragement. You will find a lot of encouragement and hope.
Personally, I found out about this book at the right time when I was holding onto God when all seemed lost. My heart was encouraged by this book and I found myself waiting on God to burst forth for me and of course He did as I am sure He will do again in every situation I look up to Him for.
My God even in the last minute is a book that is Spirit filled and will definitely be a blessing to all that read it.
