In Helping My Hero, the author shares and explains what the grief cycle is (Page 26, Helping My Hero). She also answers tough questions, such as, “Why did Sara’s dad point a gun at her mom? (Page 43, Helping My Hero). In My Hero Hurts, the teenage workbook, the author goes into great depth to explain what is happening in the military family. She answers questions such as, What can cause the wounds of war?, What causes PTSD?, What happens to the whole body because of trauma?, What are the symptoms of PTSD, What is the difference between PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)?, What are the symptoms of TBI? And five things Military teens want to understand (Pages 1-16, My Hero is Hurting!). The appendix for My Hero is Hurting includes a homecoming checklist, more questions for the family sit-down talk guide and more verses for prayer (Pages 126-127, My Hero is Hurting). These books are amazingly full of practical tools! I would highly recommend these books to military families who are dealing with PTSD !
