Even before reading this book, I was immediately intrigued by the plot and was curious to see how the story would unfold. Taylor was definitely the type of character we all can relate to especially with her enthusiasm and belief that she could solve the case. I think it’s safe to say, we’ve all watched our fair share of true crime documentaries, murder mystery shows, CSI, etc. and believed we could easily spot the clues that others might have missed. Taylor was that person indeed that we all wished to and could relate to her on different levels. Myles, on the other hand, was the grumpy, possessive bounty hunter, who has determined to solve the case, and tried to stay away from Taylor and her beauty and cheerful personality. If there’s one thing I love about grumpy characters (among other reasons) is seeing how they become absolutely softies for the sunshine such as, Myles towards Taylor. Myles was immediately attracted to Taylor, but realized very fast that being around her made him feel things he hadn’t felt before, and couldn’t get her out of his mind. Even from Myles picking up on certain changes from Taylor, he would adjust his tone or behavior in order to make Taylor feel better. For a man who seemed serious and to himself, he ended up caring about Taylor’s wellbeing and more.
This was a short, sweet, spicy, romance book filled with Tessa Bailey’s humor throughout the story. If you’re looking for a quick read or another book by Tessa Bailey to read, go ahead and check this book out! Once again, with Tessa’s signature humor and lovable characters, you’ll fall in love with everything this book has to offer. While this may be a short book, don’t worry because the romance and spice is excellent! Myles and Taylor’s chemistry was great, and come on, grumpy/ sunshine romance’s are some of my all time favorites! Myles was definitely a possessive man and he made sure to not only comfort Taylor, but also made sure she enjoyed herself to the fullest *wink, wink. Taylor also took Myles by surprise by showing a side of herself that Myles didn’t expect, and was left happily surprised by Taylor’s actions and words. *Hint, if you’ve read carefully, you’ll have caught onto what I was implying haha.
For all the romance and of course the murder mystery that Myles and Taylor were trying to solve, Myles also dealt with his fear of getting close to Taylor, and potentially putting her in harms ways. For all the strength and confidence that Myles seemed to portray in himself, he also had a fear of Taylor getting in harms way through their investigation. Poor Myles, he truly did have his own inner demons he was still dealing with, and through his chapters it was evident he didn’t want to repeat past mistakes from his life. Myles was hard on himself, but Taylor wanted to help him not only by lightening the load of the case, but to also help him work through his inner problems.
Overall, this was a great, fun story. Taylor and Myles were great and them solving the case together was both amusing and enjoyable. The way the mystery of the case ended up going was pretty good and I wasn’t expecting the level of danger that occurred throughout the story. Taylor was an absolute sweetheart and I adored her personality. Myles was secretly a softie who would do anything for Taylor. The romance and spice was amazing, and of course the epilogue was not only romantic and sweet, but it seemed fitting for Taylor and Myles’s relationship the way their story ended. The perfect summer read, quick to read, and Tessa Bailey once again delivered a feel good story.
I loved grumpy Myles and his internal thoughts made me laugh out loud.
Taylor discovering she’s actually a strong, young woman and not simply “safe and predictable Taylor” was a delight. Miles helped with that of course.
The “grumpy/sunshine” dynamic was such a fun read.
Add in the hot “almost sex”. Twice. And then when they finally get there……holy hotness.
All of this fun, steamy, romantic, murder who done it, is a brilliantly written. Tessa never seems to disappoint! You don’t want to miss this one. It’s hard to stop smiling from beginning to end….. and the epilogue? Laugh out loud fun!
The story follows Taylor, a second grade teacher who is excited to finally go on a much-needed vacation with her brother. She's rented a home on Cape Cod for the next several days, and the clawfoot tub is calling her name. Unfortunately, the dead body she finds in the rental property means that her vacation has taken a very different turn. And while the mild, sweetheart of a woman assumed the experience would frighten her, it just seemed to awaken some inner strength. So when Taylor meets the bounty hunter who is tasked with solving the murder (it's a long story), she reacts in a way that's unexpected. The man should be terrifying - he seems to scare everyone else - but it's clear that Myles is incredibly attracted to Taylor. Myles warns Taylor away from the start, but chemistry seems to keep pulling them back together, and it's not long before they're both acting out of character.
This is steamy with a capital S, and it doesn't take long to get there. Myles and Taylor have the kind of instant connection that jumps off the page, and it can be a lot to handle sometimes. Those situations also aren't vanilla, so be prepared to fan yourself. I thought Myles was too much until we started to see his softer side, and then he became this lovable teddy bear who just so happens to be a caveman. If jealous/possessive heroes aren't for you, then you might want to pass on this one, but it certainly made for some super steamy situations. The evolution of both characters was actually very good, and I think that's kind of the point of the book - their lives completely change over the course of a week, and they both have whiplash. They fight against the connection but continue to be drawn together, and the murder mystery is the perfect thing to bond them as they struggle. There's definitely a suspenseful element, but the star here is the romance, with Myles and Taylor in nearly every scene together. It's entertaining, engaging, and entirely bingeable, so I'm rounding up my rating.

From the moment they meet, there’s a distinct spark between Taylor and Myles. They both brush it off as a sort-of “in the moment” thing, but as the investigation into the murder continues, Taylor wanting to go along for the ride and solve the mystery—climbing out of the safe zone she’s been in all her life—it’s clear that their connection is too hot to contain. In fact, it’s getting in the way, as far as no-relationship, no-strings Myles is concerned. He knows the kind of girl Taylor is, and what she deserves, and convinces himself that he can’t give that picture-perfectness to her. But Taylor sees something in him and the way he has continued to protect her—through threats on her life and close-calls—enough to realise that this could be something. That’s if they’ll get out of their own ways.
Overall, My Killer Vacation was literal fire. The mystery aspect, I felt, sort of took a backseat to the romance, which I was okay with. I loved the relationship between Taylor and her brother, Jude—her love for him was truly unmatched and I was besotted at the bond between them. Reading Taylor and Myles’s separate POVs were definitely identifiable and I loved that we got to see the flip side of the scenarios instead of being stuck behind just one. It had a lot more spice than I predicted/thought there would be, which made reading it around other people an experience at keeping a poker face. But as my opener to Tessa Bailey’s storyworlds, My Killer Vacation was *chef’s kiss*—it had me laughing and blushing at the down-to-earth, sultry story of Taylor and Myles that is one hundred per-cent a killer summer read. 4.5 stars!

The story follows both main characters Taylor and Myles. Taylor and her brother are visiting Cape Cod for a well needed vacation however after discovering some creepy things in the house they find the ultimate creepy thing - a dead body. Enter Myles, ex detective turned bounty hunter who is dedicated to bringing the killer to justice.
What ensues is a grumpy Myles trying to keep an intrigued, amateur detective Taylor out of trouble, his investigation and his bed. They have an immediate connection and the chemistry between them sizzles off the page. I loved that this was a murder mystery alongside the romance element and one served to add angst to the other.
This gave me such nostalgia for a book I read when I was younger. It’s only vaguely similar and no where near as spicy but it made me pick that old book back up again and that’s Pick Your Poison by Leann Sweeney. It’s an oldie but a goodie and my paperback version is so worn from re-reading over the years!

The setting is simple enough and sexy scenes spicy enough that i was invested throughout while really liking the MMC.
With a fee laugh out loud moments and just the right amount of sweetness with a great meet cute, i recommend this for a fun and easy enjoyable read that will make you smile!
