Will hides behind a façade, one that masks the pain he feels and can't run from. This works for him for the most part. After all what could be worse then loosing himself in the arms of a warm and willing Lady? When he is sent by his King to escort a certain young lady he honor's his liege. He has no idea that the spitfire that has enough sass for a hundred will be the one person to fire his emotions and make him consider risking that which he questioned having...a heart.
Years ago I had the pleasure of reading Ms. Jones' "Jewel and the Sword" and fell in love with her voice and ability to tell a story. We were introduced to Will in this title and I waited with a great deal of patience (unusual for me, I must admit) for Will's story. Well, the wait was worth it!!!! This is an amazing story full of wonderful characters, vivid imagery, and romance that will capture the reader's attention from the first word. I often imagined what kind of heroine would be good for Will. Prudence is perfect! She's sassy and bold, stubborn but sweetly naïve. Will...insert sigh here...is the dare I say it...the perfect hero. I dare any reader not to fall in love with him. Ms. Jones has done an excellent job in crafting a storyline that is entertaining, yet believable. This is not always easy when you're having to juggle characters, romance, and worry regarding the pace and flow of the read. This is an author that I automatically buy and highly recommend. If you love to loose yourself in a read Ms. Jones is the author to pick up. One word describes her. FANTASTIC!
Marjorie Jones' medieval romance My Lady's Will is a classic tale of love and misconceptions, highlighting the sometimes-foolish, selfless sacrifices made when a person tries to do what he thinks society demands rather than following his heart. You'll enjoy it.
Both are torn by the force of the growing attraction between them, which is outweighed only by their fear of capitulation. Will they ever reach a happy conclusion?
Ms. Jones tells My Lady's Will with verve and energy. There is historical detail aplenty and yet I was never sure of the century in which the story is placed. Time and again I was drawn out of the tale by the use of very modern dialogue peppered with medieval touches. If this does not worry you, then you will enjoy the dashing escapades of these two young people.
