My 10 year old absolutely adores My Little Pony. This is her review:

The book features most of the current ponies, which she liked. She also liked that the stories were relatively short so she could reread the ones that featured her favorite characters. She felt the stories were a bit more 'reality' than the movie/TV shows; as such, not quite the same as what she was used to seeing on tv. But she said she didn't mind that at all - it was nice to see something a little different. She liked all of the stories except she felt the last couple of ones were a bit too 'sappy'.

I asked her if she would recommend this to friends who liked My Little Pony and said replied, "Absolutely." I also asked her to rate the book on a score of 1 to 5, and she felt it was a 4-1/2 because it featured most of the ponies (plus) but some of the stories were too silly (-1/2)

Received as an ARC from the publisher.

As with all other IDW comics, the quality of printing is top notch, and especially collections like this, they're put together properly.

This collection is the first 6 mini-series that they produced alongside the main comic series. These character stories include Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity.

These mini-series don't have quite the amount of background detail as the main comics have as I'm sure their production budget and deadlines were much shorter, but they're still a great read and the artwork that IS there is top notch. Also you're blessed by the last 6 pages of the book containing the original covers for each of the comics, so if you're a collector, it's much easier on your wallet to just snag this rather than 6 individual issues that are getting quite difficult to track down.

I have a soft spot for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that I should probably be ashamed of, but whatever. Every time I see a new comic from them, I always request it. And they always have that MLPFIM fun and flare. This collection doesn't disappoint.

This graphic novel collects six stories, one from each of the Mane Six. Twilight Sparkle takes a job as the Archivist's assistant. Rainbow Dash battles a Cloud of Sadness. Rarity goes on a spa vacation that doesn't turn out like she expected. Fluttershy enters an art contest. Pinkie Pie wins tickets to a famous clown's show. AppleJack is preparing the farm for Hearth's Warming Eve when the Sass Squash appears.

I loved the many jokes and pop culture references. I think my favorite was a David Bowie reference. I love that the creators know that not only children are reading these comics. If a parent reads this with their kid, they are going to have a good time with all the little allusions.

I give this graphic novel a 3.5/5. I recommend it to any MLPFIM fan from age 5 to 105. This would be a great gift and since there are six stories, this would be a great comic book to introduce a young audience to comics by reading a story with them each night before bed.

Like the stories abt individual stories of the mane cast of ponies. (feels bit on the younger child's reading list, obviously)

Dislike abt some of the styles esp the first story, with legs bending the wrong way, horn in one and missing in the nxt panel.

Otherwise, its a pretty cool read for fans and kids alike.

My 5-year-old would rather have us do everything for her, so I love graphic novels because they aren't really good for being read aloud. So she's motivated to read to herself! Plus I'm a fan of bringing girls into the wonderful world of comics. While the characters are mostly dominated by men, there are a lot of great female role-models out there in comic-world. So these are a great intro to the joy of comic books too.

My daughter loves these books, so you won't hear any complaints from me on plot or that they're mostly just re-telling things that happen in the shows. I haven't seen any reviews where the kids - the target audience - hasn't loved them, so who cares what Mama thinks!

The comic book series of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a bit different from the television show as for the most part everything is not concluded in one short chapter, although with these "Pony Tales" volumes single chapter story lines are exactly what you will be getting. Even though the writing style is a bit different from the originating TV series it is still a really enjoyable experience that I would suggest to any Brony, Pegasister, young or old!

includes all the micro-series comics under one cover for the Mane Six. i have read each of these individually as they came out and purchased this to complete my collection. i am happy with my purchese as it also comes with a lil extra bonus content like extra cover prints (showcasing various other covers the microseries had as well)

This is a high quality graphic novel. The artwork and storytelling (for the ones I read) were top notch. Both my daughters (7 and 10) have read and reread this comic. I especially liked the reading level. Every page or two would have a 50 cent word, so the kids would ask what it means. “Grotesquerie” was one of my favorites. The pages seem to be holding up well after several reads, too.

My daughters will be buying more MLP comics, because they are so well done.
