The book features most of the current ponies, which she liked. She also liked that the stories were relatively short so she could reread the ones that featured her favorite characters. She felt the stories were a bit more 'reality' than the movie/TV shows; as such, not quite the same as what she was used to seeing on tv. But she said she didn't mind that at all - it was nice to see something a little different. She liked all of the stories except she felt the last couple of ones were a bit too 'sappy'.
I asked her if she would recommend this to friends who liked My Little Pony and said replied, "Absolutely." I also asked her to rate the book on a score of 1 to 5, and she felt it was a 4-1/2 because it featured most of the ponies (plus) but some of the stories were too silly (-1/2)
Received as an ARC from the publisher.
This collection is the first 6 mini-series that they produced alongside the main comic series. These character stories include Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity.
These mini-series don't have quite the amount of background detail as the main comics have as I'm sure their production budget and deadlines were much shorter, but they're still a great read and the artwork that IS there is top notch. Also you're blessed by the last 6 pages of the book containing the original covers for each of the comics, so if you're a collector, it's much easier on your wallet to just snag this rather than 6 individual issues that are getting quite difficult to track down.
This graphic novel collects six stories, one from each of the Mane Six. Twilight Sparkle takes a job as the Archivist's assistant. Rainbow Dash battles a Cloud of Sadness. Rarity goes on a spa vacation that doesn't turn out like she expected. Fluttershy enters an art contest. Pinkie Pie wins tickets to a famous clown's show. AppleJack is preparing the farm for Hearth's Warming Eve when the Sass Squash appears.
I loved the many jokes and pop culture references. I think my favorite was a David Bowie reference. I love that the creators know that not only children are reading these comics. If a parent reads this with their kid, they are going to have a good time with all the little allusions.
I give this graphic novel a 3.5/5. I recommend it to any MLPFIM fan from age 5 to 105. This would be a great gift and since there are six stories, this would be a great comic book to introduce a young audience to comics by reading a story with them each night before bed.
Dislike abt some of the styles esp the first story, with legs bending the wrong way, horn in one and missing in the nxt panel.
Otherwise, its a pretty cool read for fans and kids alike.
My daughter loves these books, so you won't hear any complaints from me on plot or that they're mostly just re-telling things that happen in the shows. I haven't seen any reviews where the kids - the target audience - hasn't loved them, so who cares what Mama thinks!
My daughters will be buying more MLP comics, because they are so well done.

Fun! I really liked it, but the art could be enough better, and it didn't have a lot of "adventure" and "action" like the others. Overall, it was really good.Published 15 months ago by Kindle Customer
