This book is about Andrew Seymour, Viscount Jamison and Lady Gwendolyn Rowle. Andrew was captivated by Gwendolyn at a ball and asked her to dance without an introduction. Unfortunately he didn't know she was the widow of a man who died in a duel with him. So the story begins. This book was a sweet love story fraught with heartache and misunderstanding. I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

I always enjoy reading Elizabeth Mansfield's books and this one was no exception. It was rather the reverse of the usual Regency romance in that the heroine was the hateful and unforgiving party.

Ms. Mansfield always explains the situations clearly so you don't have to page back to see if you missed something. I don't understand readers who assign a low rating because they didn't like a character or situation in a story. If the story is well-written, it deserves more than that.

I consider this to be a good plot as it held my interest throughout. The dialogue is better than average and the subplots do not detract from the main storyline.

Hard to put this one down. Beautifully written as usual and kept me anticipating each outcome as the story unfolded. The characters are entertaining and likeable and the villain is as revolting and unprincipled as he should be. The outcome is both satisfying and rewarding. I have now read the whole series of Elizabeth Mansfield's and I am saddened somewhat to be forced to go on to another author. A thoroughly pleasant time I have had!

A pathetic duel ending in a accidental death. A secret is vowed by those who witnessed it. Then the man who lived meets the widow and falls in love. And the widow sees a murderer. Quite a plot, skillfully done will keep you turning the pages in this very unique Regency Romance.
