Review

from Donald

"Beautiful Merridy! Inspiration for our soul!"
from Jeannette

From the Author

Mute Swans live in the lagoons and ponds around the shore of Lake Ontario. I followed several families during the summer, visiting them in parks in Toronto, Mississauga and Port Credit, Ontario. On a special trip, I attended the swan release festival in Stratford, Ontario. I captured the swans in photos as they created their nests, laid eggs, hatched cygnets and brought up their families. These are the inspiring photos in this journal, My Nature Journal, a great space for you to add your own inspiring writing or journal entries.

Merridy Cox, BSc, MMsl, managing editor of Lyrical Leaf Publishing, is a writer, editor, and book indexer. With a background in biology, natural history, and museum studies, she worked as a museum consultant with the federal government of Canada and as a technical writer for Library and Archives Canada for many years. Find her on Twitter @merridycox and on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/lyrical.leaf.publishing. Look for her web page at www.LyricalLeafEditing.wordpress.com.

Merridy published "My Nature Journal," a cross between a coffee table book and a repository for your best thoughts and ideas. The journal includes original colour photos of Mute Swans. "Themes from A Course in Miracles: How Brothers Can Get Along" is a companion to the ACIM text, which is studied by groups around the world. This book is illustrated with original B&W photographs.

Her mobile-accessible e-book, "Fifty Shapes of Swan: A Natural History in Photos" is a delightful book suitable for families and children from Grade 3 and up. It includes original photos and descriptions of the life of a swan family on a large pond and how they deal with interfering dogs and ducks. An expanded version of this book will soon be ready in print.

"Edwardian Annotated Pets and How to Keep Them, Part I: Beasts" was written by ornithologist Frank Finn in 1907. As editor, Merridy has annotated the book to include biographical information and a photo of Frank Finn. Annotations also include information related to the different animals, whether monkeys, squirrels, or hedgehogs, with cautions about modern by-laws regarding exotic pets. The black and white photographs are original to the book. This antiquarian e-book provides an insight into the life and times of the Edwardian era, as well as comments on the human-animal bond, and cautions about how some animals bite. Beatrix Potter, author of "Peter Rabbit" would have read this book for information on how to feed and house her pets. Part II, for future publication, will include cage and aviary birds.

Merridy has contributed poetry and photography to an annual anthology, "The Literary Connection," Volumes II to V, published by IOWI. For example, see http://www.amazon.ca/Literary-Connection-II-Cheryl-Antao-Xavier/dp/1926926587

Merridy is working on a book, "English Manual: Letter by Letter." Excerpts of this book, including photographs by the author, are posted in a blog followed world-wide. The Manual contains tips and tricks for adult language learners, young and old, and for their tutors and teachers. Each section is illustrated with an original photograph. The book is due to be published. www.englishmanual.wordpress.com

Merridy copyedits mostly non-fiction, although her time is mostly booked. She copyedited and indexed Nina Munteanu's book, "Water Is... The Meaning of Water." https://www.amazon.com/Water-Nina-Munteanu/dp/0981101240
