The hero was alpha but not a bully, and so devoted to his love, and so determined to have her not matter what, that I was completely blown away by his emotions. Which bring me to another thing I loved about the story: there was a lot of his point of views, including during the love scenes. And the heroine was strong and did not wilt in a crisis, and she was not only a beauty, but tall too. Almost everything about this story I liked. Yes, I do like for the hero, to be more than 4 years older than the heroine (especially in historical romance) but I cannot have everything. In conclusion this book has already become one of my old time favorites. Keep in mind that their love story had very little relation (if at all) to real life. But for me that is the point of reading these type of books. Highly recommend it!!!!!!!

I've read this whole series to date and I have to say that Vonda Sinclair sure knows how to write Scottish romances just the way I LOVE them. The story line was REALLY good and kept me turning the pages.
Chief Torrin Macleod the hero was totally sigh worthy. He was everything a Highland Warrior Chief should be, strong, fierce, stubborn, protective, honorable, sexy, tender and of course fantastic at bed sport, LMAO!
The Heroine Lady Jessie was also well written, she was smart, courageous, stubborn and caring. She was not a simpering miss and I loved that she was strong when faced with danger.
Of course we had several villains that added some excitement and action to the story line. The action scenes were EXCELLENT! There nothing better than reading a Scottish romance that has some very well written sword fighting scenes except for ones that also have SCORCHING love scenes too. I got both in this book.
The ending was FANTASTIC with an epilogue that looked just a bit into the future and left me totally satisified. This always pleases me, I really wish every author would take their time and write an epilogue.
So yep, overall I loved everything about this book. I would HIGHLY recommend this series to all of you who enjoy an exciting Highland Romance that has an awesome story line with wonderful characters and some good HOT steam added to it. For me, this was PERFECTION!
There is a gang of trouble makers that develops from the first book and you will appreciate the role that Torrin McLeod, brother to one of the gangs leaders, in this novel deeper if you understand the very carefully orchestrated role of not just Clan Laird but peacemaker with Jesse's clan, The McKay's.
Jesse's older brother, Dirk, from Novel one in the series, is away from the Keep when one of her pursuer's, Torrin runs across Jesse's ex-husband, Gregor MacBain who has returned to "woo" Jesse back to his Clan and Keep now that the woman he had an affair with 3 months into his handfasted marriage to Jesse has not gone as he had planned and he not only needs a mother to raise his newborn son, but wants the land that has been added to Jesse's dowry by Dirk when he was made Laird of Clan McKay. On top of the two wooing highlanders in the Keep she also has a scoundrel in the gang, that has been after Dirk, that has his eyes set on the flame haired Jesse.
Jesse is a fighter and is confident and strong at it will take more than the battle field for Torrin to win over Jesse's affections. Enjoy the whole series and getting to know the highlander's; Torrin, Dirk, Rebbie, Lachlan, Cyrus, Keegan, Iain and the others of this twisted tale that takes over the lands and time of the 17th Century Scotland.
