hi everyone ! my name is ... and I'm from Germany. I'm so happy that this CD finally came out ! It's been such a long time since the last CD from Lory - but it was worth waiting...Lory's voice is better than ever !!! Her vocal range can be compared to those of Celine Dion or Mariah Carey, but in my opinion Lory's voice tops them all !! I've listened to this CD only a few times so far. My favourites right now are FEEL MY LOVE, THE GREATEST LOVE, SHE LIKES, ALL FOR LOVE and ONE WITH YOU ! If there shall be a single-release....maybe it could be FEEL MY LOVE, such a great Disco-Song. Could be a summer hit in 2001 ! But never forget the beautiful ballads Lory is givin to us ! THE GREATEST LOVE is a heart-melting love song ....Lory's voice is giving me goose-bumps !!! And a beautiful guitar plays along....wonderful ! A great starter for a great album ! SEND ME A SIGN is also a great ballad, where Lorys' stunning voice is surrounded by a beautiful piano-theme. SHE LIKES is very different from anything I've heard from Lory so far. It's an very interesting song. You might have to listen to it a few times....but then it catches you (kind of hypnotic). ALL FOR LOVE is also a great up-tempo song, one with great hit-potential ! good disco-stuff ! I FEEL THE RHYTHM is a very experimental disco/techno/pop-song. Fans from Lory might be surprised...yes she can do disco !! WOW ! I like that new style ! Madonna or Kylie Minogue can take a bow !! I hope this song will be played in clubs and discos ! ONE WITH YOU is kind of Enya-style. Very peaceful and quiet at the beginning the song builds up to end in an stunning vocal performance by Lory ! Breathtaking and so innocent. This song ends this incredible CD and leaves you with shivers all over your spine. This is a CD where you can feel Lory's influence.Read more ›

I have been a long time "fan" of Lory - back then known as Bonnie Bianco. The Cinderella 80 soundtrack as well as her albums Just Me and True Love, Lory are still part of my CD collection. Lonely is the night had a few songs that I extremely liked but then some other songs I could not really listen to.

On my own...is a very difficult album in the sense that it tries to combine many different styles, which is not a bad thing. However, some of the songs remind me very much of Euro-Dance music of the 90s that just does not speak to me at all. Some of the ballads - and I hate to say it - sound a bit cheesy. Where Miss you so or No tears anymore are ballads that have some depth, the ballads on this album do not even come close.

Her voice is wonderful, there is no question about it. The arrangements though are somewhat irritating. In comparison her latest CD Hymns (with guitars and I love it!!) seems to be something that finally shows HER style.

Lory finally released her own vision. She recorded and wrote everything herself. Her voice is as strong as ever and if you like Lory Bianco (aka Bonnie Bianco), you will like this CD too. (...)

I was fortunate enough to chance into Lory in person back in '94 when I thought I would be directing a Venetian thriller and was looking for a raging vocal presence still unknown in the USA. Alas, the project got stalled, but I never forgot the weeks I spent listening to Lory Bianco's tapes and watching her videos. It amazed me a talent this huge had gone overlooked in America (and she sings in english), but had enjoyed a very pop stardom in Italy and Germany in the late 80s thanks to the DeAngelis Brothers (sort of the Baby Face's of Europe if you dont know).
That she continues not widely known stateside may be attributable to our own cultural rot and insipidity in these shores. Lory may be just too big and, let's say, 'operatic'. She conjures and inspires emotions and vistas that are very cinematic, huge and unapologetically romantic, and how well do these mesh with a populace immersed in deconstruction, Tarantin-oid cynisicm and general slackerdom??? We don't have permission to feel the things that Lory's voice offers anymore, and that is sad, sad, sad.
This self-produced CD has its moments, for sure: "The Greatest Love" was worth the price of admission. I only wish some savvy LA-based whiz kid, or a DownTempo turntablist rummaging about in the more tasty sections of LoungeLand would grab Lory and produce her. For that matter, I'd even settle for the ultra-sheen of Whitney's producers, although I find Whitney quasi-corporate and alternately soul-less. A little more attention to brevity and craft would have put this CD over the top and Lory into FM Land. Lory on her own can sometimes exhaust certain colors, but man, does she use those colors. When she sings, you see the SUN.
If you can get your hands on Lory's 1993 CD, "Lonely is the Night", do so.
