"You can either manage your financial life, or let it manage - and torture - you. Financial service professionals and CFAs Thakor and Kedar recommend the former and show you how to achieve it. This guide to financial planning for young women (men, this applies to you, too) is sound and prudent... Thakor and Kedar are more like financial physicians than financial consultants." -- Kirkus Review - April 2007

You will be hooked from the start with the call outs and side bars of usable information: The Money Madness section sheds light on the reality that "despite outward appearances of affluence, a shocking number of people are literally just a stone's throw away from financial disaster." Overall, this book offers a great start towards achieving financial responsibility.
The book is very well written, easy to understand and provides just the "right" amount of detail. I bought a copy for each of my twenty something daughters and will buy many more copies to give as gifts.
Imagine that in less than 160 easy to read pages, you learn about credit, insurance, investments, savings, mortgages, whether to lease or buy a car (buy, used), retirement savings, budgeting and much more. And it is done in a very interesting, easy to read, engaging way.
While I have been practicing many of the tactics and strategies outlined in the book for many years, I must admit that I learned a thing or two and am seriously rethinking some of my investment strategies.
I have recommended this book to a few people at work. Hopefully it will help them develop an action plan like it did me.
