"It's good to have life goals."
I forgot just how much I love this series. It's been a long while since I finished the previous book but as soon as I started this I was easily transported back into this world.
Because this series just has that familiar feeling with the world of this series and the characters in it.
This is the fourth book in this paranormal series and this time we focus on Darian who is fae, and his mate Amelia who is half witch.
There is an ongoing plot throughout this series that untangles and develops with each book so I can't say anything much on that other than bad things are happening and it feels like the bad guys are getting closer.
However, with the couple there is also another story line.
Amelia has been waiting her whole life to be with her mate so she doesn't expect to be met with a frosty reception, with rejection.
Darian's inner light is dimming and it seems the darkness is taking over and he refuses to take anyone down with him.
But he soon finds out how determined and stubborn his mate is and that he never stood a chance trying to fight her.
"You are an odd little half human."
"My brother says I'm a 'limited edition' thank you very much."
"What are you doing?"
His mouth dropped."Out in the open?"
she shrugged "Why hide?"
I really liked these two as characters and as a couple. Amelia was different in a way. For a bit, she had to do the chasing and I loved that about her in a way. She was self assured, she wasn't afraid to go after what was hers. She was also bubbly and hilarious.
Not going to lie that at first that I thought Darian was a total jerk. He could be mean but I got it, eventually. He's honorable. And when he accepted he couldn't fight their connection any longer he was so sweet to her with a tad possessiveness.
"How could I not love the crazy, female who kneed me to prove that I wouldn't hurt her?
How could I not love the woman who is willing to descend into hell rather than lose me?
I have so very little to offer you, not even a certain future, and you give to me at every turn-- your trust, your faith, your body.
How could I not love you?"
I really missed these characters.
Meryn and her hilarious ways.
The men and their (lack of) knowledge of humans, more importantly female humans.
The fierce loyalty and their extended family; mixed with blood related family and self made family.
There's something special about that feel of family and belonging in these books.
It amazes me that Alanea Alder can manage to keep the humor consistent and yet fresh at the same time. I will never tire of Meryn and her menacing ways.
The men and what they learn with each book and their trips to the store.
The interactions with the characters; Paranormal and human.
"Fix him! He caught a case of Meryn!
There are a lot of characters which can equal a lot going on and while it can get confusing from time to time, it's one of the top reasons why this series is so endearing to me.
Noah and Keelan are the characters that own my heart though.
I refuse to accept what happened with Keelan.
I really need these guys to get their own books. Or you know, their own book.
Also Oron. I really love him too.
I want all the secondary characters books, really.
Now,if you couldn't tell already, I loved this book so much. I smiled and laughed a whole lot. I really got emotional on more than one occasion and I was reminded why I love paranormal so much, this series in particular.
Yes, there's a but. The writing was slightly jumpy in places. Rushed maybe? There's also something that was supposed to happen but it didn't so I'm going to wait and see does it happen in the next book before mentioning it in detail.
Anyway, I did love it over all and can't wait to catch up on the next two books!
Review 👇 SPOILERS ALERT!!!
Another great book for my shelf! I love it! Amelia and Meryn, cousins? I did not see that one coming! Now Meryn is connected to the Makenzies (Aiden's House), the Ambrosias (Gavriel's House), the Monroes (Beth's House), the Ironwoods and the Ashleighs (Amelia's Houses). Not to mention having Ryuu as her squire! I really wonder what is coming that would warrant that much protection for a human. I guess we'll find out, huh?
I loved that Amelia and Darian's mating wasn't the same as the others by Amelia first dreaming of her mate when she is six years old (don't worry, nothing in that nature happens). And I absolutely love her relationships with her brothers because it reminds me of mine.
Now as much as I loved Amelia and Darian's story, there is one thing that bugged me, and that was, that it seemed the focus was more on other people and on the ferals that it was on their relationship. So I would change that one detail and make sure the book had a little more of their developing relationship.
But despite that, I still loved this book! Amelia's antics on top of Meryn's gave me bellyaches from laughing too hard. So I would definitely recommend this book to people looking for a good laugh.
This book we meet Amelia and Darien. Amelia (Bubbles) is quirky, fun, and oh so easy to fall in love with. Darien is facing rough times with evil closing in on him and we get to see a very different side to his character that we haven't seen with the others in the past books. He's battling the dark side as it starts to close in around him and he tries to push his mate away to protect her. Amelia will have none of that. She might be bubbly but she has a strong backbone and won't let Darian fall away from her.
My Savior has all the funny scenes we have visited in the past books. I loved reading the laugh out loud moments over and over as I'm rolling on the floor laughing. This books has some unexpected twists and turn and most definitely and OMG moment. I can't wait to see how book 5 turns out. Is it November yet?
