Developing her talents and a singer, writer, entrepreneur, and loving wife-turned-caregiver satisfied her longings for personal growth for many years, and Lynn became stronger and able to identify her own needs and desires. Sex with her husband, however, was never stellar and became non-existent after his tragic early death. Then, as a single woman in midlife, Lynn resolved to take charge and develop her sexual self. Stories of encounters which are, in turn, fun, passionate, worrisome, disappointing, loving, and deeply personal tell how Lynn's life, including her sex life, blossomed and healed through her erotic experiences.
Never maudlin or playing the "victim," Lynn writes matter-of-factly about her less than perfect upbringing and what it has taken for her to become a whole, confident, and satisfied woman. She bravely bares not only her body, but her soul in this moving memoir of her search for strength, personal fulfillment, and faith in herself. I highly recommend this entertaining, moving, and uplifting "expose."
Rosenberg lets us listen to her dialogs with strangers, and she also takes along on her real-world dates with some of the men she met online. It's a frank tour of the world of online sex, with its liars and losers. Her encounters are sometimes funny, sad, exciting and, yes, hot. Rosenberg lets us in on the emotions she feels, as well as the sexual excitement of her encounters.
The book alternates tales of her current sex life, online and off, with chapters about her life from the time she was a child up until her present-day exploits. It's interesting to see the connections between her early experiences in her family and the way her parents' negativity about sex, along with society's demand that she be a good girl, caused her to repress her sexuality for so many years. The traditional memoir elements provide a good counterpoint to the graphic sex scenes. Rosenberg writes with real honesty and humor about what it's like to date and have sex as an older person.
But this isn't merely a book about online hookups. It's about that disappointing gap between fantasy and reality, and how we humans struggle to connect with each other.
