“Action expresses priorities.” – Mahatma Gandhi
“Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.” – Groucho Marx
This is, at heart, a book of quotations and so the question is, why should I look here for pithy quotes when I can find them elsewhere? Here's my answer: I wouldn't have found them elsewhere. Oh sure, I've come across some of the included quotes, but there are many many more that were new to me. And (very important), there are many many here that resonate with me. I mean, someone interesting and knowledgeable and (very important) supremely witty taps me on the shoulder and says read this. And so I do, highlighting my heart out as I go.
In addition to compiling this 'ebook breviary of quotes,' the author gives handy tips on how to share said quotes on social media. There is also a how-to on how to build a meme, with—natch!--an example of the ultimate Internet meme, LOL cats.
Pause here while I share another highlighted quote from the book. Of course, there must be cats:
“The only mystery about the cat is why it ever decided to become a domesticated animal.” – Compton MacKenzie
The danger in writing this review is my impulse to keep quoting from the book...wait wait, here's another gem, gotta include that! But then I'd be writing a review nearly the length of the book I'm reviewing. Rather, I'll just say go read it for yourself and you can then be the one with the apt quote at hand.
Oh well, I can't resist ending with perhaps my favorite:
“Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.” -- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Wait wait, this one is also my favorite:
“Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.” -- Henry David Thoreau
And this one....
