***4.5 HEARTS***

My Sweet Demise is Shana's debut novel and if I didn't look that up, I wouldn't have known it. She did an amazing job! This story is not an easy one but it's worth it.

Raina needed a room. Kent needed a roommate and a wingman. He definitely wasn't looking for a woman to cramp his style but he couldn't say no to those pouty lips and hazel eyes. Raina had no idea she was about to become a roommate and wing woman to an infamous manwhore who enjoyed his conquests on the couch but soon she would see him in action close up. She even shocked herself when she found herself turned on by it. Raina also saw another part of Kent in that moment and it wasn't just his impressive manhood. They didn't know it yet but that first night as roommates was a start to a crazy, messy, and beautiful ride....

Raina shouldn't want Kent. He was everything she was avoiding but she saw more. Yes, he is an a--. Yes, he is a man whore. Yes, he likes to party. But she also feels safe with him, he makes her laugh, and most of all, he makes her feel alive. He also confuses the f- out of her.

Kent should stay away from Raina. He knew it when he opened the door. She was too good for him. He felt women deserved to be punished, but for some reason he wanted to protect her. He shouldn't trust her, he doesn't trust any of the others, they are just all lying whores to him but she is different and it scares the s- out of him. He finds that he actually likes himself when she is around. She shouldn't be here but he can't seem to let her go.

Raina and Kent have issues. She doesn't trust men and he doesn't trust women. They have their reasons and they are good ones but if they want to try to be more than roommates, they need to find trust in each other.

My Sweet Demise by Shana Vanterpool…SO GOOD! The book was hard to put down and had me weeping in parts. That’s not to say you are going to need gobs of tissues - you won’t – but you will definitely feel the emotions the characters are experiencing.
Raina has really only had her sister to depend on her whole life and was just kicked out of her apartment. Homeless with nowhere to go, she starts searching for a place to live and after searching all day, she find the perfect spot. The only problem is the person who placed the ad wants a guy he can party with, someone to be his new wingman. Raina, desperate for a place, agrees to be his wingwoman and she gets the room.
Kent is the king of the playboys and views women as only tools to use. The last thing he wants is to live with a girl, but there was something about Raina he couldn’t say no to, couldn’t reject. So, he gave her the room with the stipulation that she couldn’t fall for him and she had to be his new wingman.
Everything changes for the both of them when they move in together. Between them, sparks fly. An electricity that cannot be contained or ignored. Even if they try with all of their might to do so. Eventually, they both succumb and fall for each other. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns for them though. Raina doesn’t trust any man. They are all the same and she can find elements of her father in each and every one of them. On the other side of the coin, Kent doesn’t trust women. He was burned and the last thing he wants is a relationship. Given the chance though, they might be able to heal each other’s hurts, heartache, and pain. They may even be able to find out what it really means to love person with your whole heart, letting go of the past, and move forward into a brighter future.

Wow, this book had my attention from the jump!! I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I thought it was going to be a sweet and funny new adult ride. But alas the wicked Ms. Vanderpool had other thoughts in mind. This was my first read by this author and it certainly won't be my last. I loved her style and how she developed such amazingly tragic characters.

Raina, is in a jam, she needs a new place to call home ASAP, since she was rudely kicked out by her nasty roommate. She has not been having the best of luck with finding a place to live that doesn’t consist of, creepy older men, women with a million cats, and so on. She has one last shot when she answers an ad for a roommate. However, when she comes face to face with a shirtless Kent Nicholson, her jaw damn near hits the ground! And I don’t blame her. After a little begging, pleading, and a round of Puppy dog eyes, Kent relents and lets Raina be his new roomie on a trial bases, and she has to be his wingman so he can get his hook up on. From there it’s a lot of Ups and Downs, highs, and lows, fights and laughs. To say that Raina and Kent’s relationship is complicated is the world’s biggest understatement ever!

This book was filled with so much angst, and so much drama, it made my head spin. I must have been in the mood for some crazy, hot cold, anger, love, lust, type of story cause I just ate this up like a pint of Ben and Jerry’s!!! I mean there were so many twists and turns and the issues Raina and Kent had to endure were terrible. Between backstabbing friends, cheating ex’s, and a family dynamic to make your head spin, I was just left speechless by the end. My only gripe is that I wish we got an epilogue at the end.
