Review

"If you're looking for your next EPIC read, with brilliant FEELS and ANGST, and heat so incendiary you'll need frequent breaks, this is a must read. Confidently and undoubtedly one of the best romances we've read this year," - The Rock Stars of Romance

"We inhaled this book! We couldn't put it down. It was intense, erotic, suspenseful, emotional, passionate, and sensual. It was pure romance and heart. Unputdownable," - TotallyBooked Blog

"I just finished reading My Time in the Affair ... the novel was deliciously steamy, but most importantly the feels were palpable ... it's a freaking ADDICTING read. I don't think anyone should avoid it because of the *cheating* topic. The main character could be any of us. She's relatable and REAL and her emotions were tangible. Fanfriggintastic ..." - Angie & Jessica's Dreamy Reads

"Anytime I see a Stylo Fantôme book, I just know it will be one hell of a book, I don't know what to expect, hot sex, crazy love, but never in a million years did I expect to find this epic story. Don't be afraid to read this story ...," - Books and Beyond Fifty Shades

"Stylo Fantome's talent is huge, her writing is flawless, emotional, thoughtful, sexy and deliciously hot. One click this now, in a sea of mediocrity her star shines brightly," - Book Loving Pixies

I am so impressed by this author. I loved her previous books so I couldn't wait to read this one. Stylo's writing is so original. When a person reads as much as I do, many stories begin to run together, and much of the phrases, words and scenes seem on repeat. Never once while reading My Time in the Affair did I get that feeling. And I had absolutely no eye rolling moments.

Mischa is married to Michael. They have always been best friends, but their love life is nonexistent. She has to travel out of the country with her job and meets Tal. He appears to be everything she ever wanted in a lover, but she never planned to have an affair. Nothing is or goes as she thought it would with Michael or Tal.

I told you, fate. What a mother [...]."
"You're such a romantic."

MTITA is filled with so much heart and soul. Most would never imagine sentiment this deeply over someone cheating. It's hard to find where to lay the fault on which of the characters. None of the main three are unblemished—Such a tangled web of endearment and lies.

I also wanted to add that this book has lots of side story. The main focus is the affair, but many other things are happening. It is not one dimensional.

Of course those who can't handle a story on cheating should not read it, but to the rest of the romance subscribers, I recommend this beautiful, poignant drama. It illustrates the allure and the agony of love. All decisions have consequences.

"Come find me."

Even though it's obvious as to what this book will be about, do not let it deter you from reading it if you avoid cheating in books at all costs. I would say go ahead and make an exception for this one. I've read some heart wrenching stories about infidelity before, and I would say that this one is fairly low on the angst factor, but still manages to capture both the beauty and the ugliness of the whole situation. Having said that, I loved this book! Mischa is heading overseas by herself as part of her job to do an extended assignment that starts in Rome. I could completely relate to her. She was in a marriage with a great guy but they didn't have the kind of chemistry that made her feel desired and he wasn't reciprocating on her attempts to improve the quality of their relationship. For someone who is pre-meditating on cheating, that speaks volumes about where Mischa's head is regarding the future of her marriage, she has her reasons for not ending it sooner and I really couldn't blame her even though it didn't justify anything.

Tal, oh wow, Tal, he was a force to be reckoned with, consequences be d*mned. I love how he and Mischa first meet. He is very captivating, direct, perceptive, sexy and unapologetic. He is the sort of man who goes after what he wants, is impossible to embarrass, and is also a bit of a loner. He's an opportunist, too, so when he sees Mischa, he already knows what she needs and capitalizes on the situation because it benefits him as well. Although they were meant to go their separate ways, they keep coming back to each other and feelings begin to seep in.

Mischa started to come out of her shell as Tal pushed her, but Tal could also be tender and sensitive when necessary, yet he would never make excuses.

I genuinely liked this authors writing style. While the topic may have been difficult to read about, the author's ability to piece words together made this story less jarring.

'My Time in the Affair' was written mainly in the third person, however it switches back and forth to first person POV. Normally, this would have bugged the heck out of me, but it was done so perfectly, seamlessly, that the style added so much to the book. Having a narrator I think softened the story. Being an outsider looking in made the situation easier to stomach.

I am a rare reader in that cheating in a book does not normally bother me if it serves a purpose in the storyline. That is because it is a normal, every day fact of life. It's destructive, it's dangerous, it's life-altering, but it's real. I have never read a book that was about the cheating event, though, where it was the central theme. Even though I read the blurb, read the *warning*, I had no idea this was about cheating. And yet, I still enjoyed it.

Mischa was in a marriage, not a relationship. Even though she and her husband had been married for 8 years, there was something missing, something tangible, a connection. They had been best friends for so long, that it felt like that was all they were. She tried talking with her husband about it, but he kept glossing over her opinion and told her everything was fine.

When the opportunity came up to leave for two months to work in Italy and Turkey, she gladly took it. This was her chance, her chance to *feel* something. She had thoughts of cheating, of being with another man, but had never acted on it, but if she were far away, maybe?

Tal had been working in Italy when he saw her in a cafe being propositioned by an overzealous man.
