“The precocious, emphatic narration... and escalating back-and-forth between Livi and her mother will enliven any read-aloud. There are plenty of books on the shelf covering kids' reluctance to get into the bathtub, but Maizes, making an assured debut, and Paraskevas suggest there's room for one more.” ―Publisher's Weekly
“[A] delightful debut from Maizes... Paraskevas’ lively illustrations have a perfect hint of whimsy infused into their colorful displays. His artwork is reminiscent of David Shannon’s in Too Many Toys! (Scholastic, 2008) as he is able to translate the precociousness of childhood into his digitally created art... This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser in story times, classrooms, and laps everywhere. ” ―Lisa Gangemi Kropp, Half Hollow Hills Public Library, Dix Hills, NY, School Library Journal
“Readers will be thrilled” ―Kirkus Reviews

The bold, charming illustrations only add to the enjoyment of this fantastic read aloud tale, and kids will take special note when Livi morphs into a snake and later a tiger on just a few of her many pre-bath adventures. This was a big hit with the preschool story time crowd, and I imagine it will have special resonance for those kids who fight against that bath time boredom. Recommended.
Here is a synopsis:
The way to the bath is a long journey fraught with obstacles only a young child could imagine. On her way to bath she must battle a snake, rule the world, and climb a mountain all while her mother waits with the bubbles ready. With delay tactics as imaginative as this, it's a wonder this feisty little girl ever makes it all the way to the bath.
The author has created an endearing character, with a big imagination. The illustrations by Michael Paraskevas (known for his work with Maggie and the Ferocious Beast) are bright and colorful and add a fun, whimsical, quality to the story. This would be a great story at bedtime for parents and children to share a fun at the end of the day.
This is a truly fun and charming book.

My kids didn't care for the style. Wasn't even funny. My son (6 years old) said he didn't care for it because the character shows disobedience to her parents. I agree.Published 10 months ago by Christina W
