About the Author
Just Patty is the poet name used by the award winning Dutch author Patty van Delft. Why the name 'Just Patty'? Because writing poetry is a naked reflection of the heart and soul, nothing more and nothing less. It's 'just you' without decorations. The poetry by Just Patty is mostly a combination of dark thoughts, loss, grief, love and the courage to continue fighting no matter what. 'I have always being attracted to the more darker forms of poetry, I adore Edgar Allan Poe. Maybe because dark poetry seems to be more raw. Before I started to write dark poetry, the darkness was already inside me. Always lurking right beneath the surface, waiting till I lost my strength so it could consume me. Because I let it out now every once in a while by writing, I was able to tame the beast and be the person who I am today. Me, without restrictions or suppression.' The art that Just Patty uses to illustrate her poetry is made by her. She models for her own photos and does the editing as well.

One that struck me as being particularly dark and deeply painful is “PTSD”. The last verse is a good example of the entire poem.
In a sea of unshed tears I shout
I am chocking
Just want to end it
But… I can’t find a way out
“Vengeance” is another of her poems that is very dark as illustrated by the following verse from it. In this poem Just Patty explores revenge.
Ice cold justice got served
In my heart, there’s no compassion
You got what you deserved!
One of my favorites of her poems is “The Warrior” which is more uplifting as Just Patty portrays steadfastness and positive thinking.
Times are hard, life is tough
I know that you think you had enough
Don’t give up, you can still win
Bring out the warrior from within
Though my first choice in poetry is to read uplifting and joyous verse, I enjoyed reading this collection of poetry very much, especially when the poem spoke of redeeming qualities rather than ending just as dark as it began.
About the author: Just Patty is the poet name used by the Dutch writer Patty van Delft. She has also written another book of poetry, MY WINGS.
My Whisperings, by Just Patty, the name Patty van Delft uses, is her second book of poetry in English since her first successful My Wings. Much has changed since then. Patty is now an award winning novelist, having won the Hebban Fantasy Award for third best fantasy novel 2014 written in her native Dutch. The award is for her first in the trilogy, Dragan Duma – Zij Die Hoort. The second is Dragan Duma – Bondgenoten & Verraders. - - Third to come!
What is different here in My Whisperings from her first 100 plus poems in My Wings: My Dark Wings & My Light Wings? My Whisperings is the evolving poet Patty with her 80 Poems and her, unusual for a poetry book, 20 untitled “Shorts,” and once again with photographic artwork made by and of herself. By “evolving” I speak factually having charted each and every poem as, in my opinion, “Dark,” “Light,” or “Grey.” What I found was that Patty stayed true to her Dark poetic base, clocking in with more “Ds” for her Dark poetry. But I say “evolving” because I charted more “Ls” for Light poems and more “Gs” for Grey poems than in her previous poetry book. And in a number of cases, while the poems were for the most part Dark, they contained strong Light and Grey elements as well.
With My Whisperings I was hard put to pick favorites with the ups and downs of emotions; “fear, pain, loss, anxiety, hope, joy, love, strength, courage,” and so much more. - - I love too many of these poems to do so. - - Perhaps that is because the poems are so strong of will, dedicated by Patty to “all those who are fighting a battle against Depression, PTSD, Self-Harm or any other visible or invisible condition.”
And so the titles are poetry themselves and convey the book’s strength. Can you hear the evolving poetry of Patty in Dark, Light, and Grey in these titles? - - “This Time,” “Whisperings,” “Covered in darkness,” “Erotic Dancer,” “Salvation,” “Angel of Death,” “Don’t make me into something I’m not,” “When you’re looking down,” “Survive the night,” “Black Rose,” “Beautiful Deception,” “Let’s pretend,” “On the line,” “Love Me,” “Hush,” “Summer Love,” “I can’t break free,” “It’s not too late,” “The End,” “The Warrior.”
These are the “best of the best,” among all the great poems here, for this reader, who Patty has made a fan of her Dark poetry. You must “read Patty” to find your own favorites in My Whisperings!

Patty uses her life's experiences ... good, happy, sad, bad ... and uses the power of the written word to express human emotion to an extend that take you with her wherever she is. It's time traveling, it's feeling with her, it's experiencing her experiences. This is a book that the reader will immensely enjoy!
And, if you don't have the first one "My Wings" ... I suggest you get the both.
She's also written a fantasy book "Dragon Duma" .... that one is still in Dutch. I can hardly wait for the English translation!
Patty is a hugely sensitive soul. She expresses this in her writings. These are books that need to be in your library .... to have a complete library!!
