One of the most difficult times for any adult is when a child is ill. The adult usually would much prefer to be the one who is ill and would trade places. And, for a child who has a chronic disease or a very severe illness, we can only give the family our best wishes. It is hard not to be able to do something.
The author, Becca Dinning-Brinkmann, has written such a lovely book for children to read and for the adults who love and care for them. Each wish that the author expresses is given from the heart. When a child is going through treatments and therapies or when they are having a down day, it is wonderful for that child to hear the words of love and support. Many adults and children do not know what to do and say, when a child is ill. It is so nice to have a book that expresses feelings and thoughts, and a book you can share with anyone.
Parents/teachers will find this book helpful to them. They may need to discuss a child's illness with others, and this book gives you an idea of what to say. For parents reading this book to their child or only reading it for themselves, it will help to alleviate some of the emotional pain. The illustrations are beautiful, colorful and vibrant, and I felt the essence of caring and love in the words. These words will resonate with everyone who knows a child who is ill. This is a book to savour.
