Product Description

2009 debut from the young multi-talented singer, musician and Usher's teen prot‚g‚. An old soul is the last thing you would expect to find inside Justin Bieber. But all it takes is one listen to the 15-year-old Soul-singing phenomenon to realize that he is light-years ahead of his manufactured Pop peers. The album features production from The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. The first single, 'One Time,' produced by Tricky, is about one of Justin's favorite topics, puppy love. Usher joins Justin on 'First Dance,' where the two share verses on a song that Bieber describes as ''a slow groovy song that people can dance to.'' On the Midi-Mafia-produced 'Down To Earth,' Justin digs deep to talk about growing up. 'Bigger' finds the teenage singer maturing at a steady rate while motivating his listeners to strive for their goals.

About the Artist

An old soul is the last thing you would expect to find inside Justin Bieber. But all it takes is one listen to the 15 year-old soul-singing phenomenon to realize that he is light years ahead of his manufactured pop peers.

After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, where the multi-talented Bieber put his impeccable spin on songs from artists like Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin racked up over 10,000,000 views purely from word of mouth.

"I started singing about three years ago," says the Canadian native who grew up an only child in Stratford, Ontario. "I entered a local singing competition called Stratford Idol. The other people in the competition had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches. I wasn't taking it too seriously at the time, I would just sing around the house. I was only 12 and I got second place."

In an effort to share his victory with his loved ones, Justin began posting his performance footage online. "I put my singing videos from the competition on YouTube so that my friends and family could watch them," he says. "But it turned out that other people liked them and they started subscribing to them. That's how my manager found me. He saw me on YouTube and contacted my family and now I'm signed!"

Seven months after Justin started posting his videos online, former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun flew the then 13-year old singer to Atlanta, GA to meet with his elite colleagues. As if Justin's natural singing talent wasn't enough to impress Scooter's inner circle, Braun knew Bieber was also a self-taught musician who plays the drums, guitar, piano and trumpet.

"Right when we flew into Atlanta, Scooter drove us to the studio and Usher was there in the parking lot," remembers Bieber. "That was my first time ever being out of Canada so I went up to him and was like, `Hey Usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?' He was like, `No little buddy, just come inside, it's cold out.'"

All it took was a short time online for Usher to realize he was in the company of a future superstar. "A week later Usher flew me back to Atlanta," says Bieber. "I sang for him and his people and he really wanted to sign me then and there but I still had a meeting with Justin Timberlake who also wanted to sign me. It turned out Usher's deal was way better. He had L.A. Reid backing him up and Scooter had a lot of really good connections in Atlanta. I always tease Usher now and remind him he how he blew me off the first time we met."

In October of 2008, Justin Bieber officially signed to Island Records. His debut album, My World is an intimate look into the mind of a budding young renaissance man. With production from star hit men like The Dream and Tricky Stewart who produced "Umbrella" for Rihanna and Beyonce's latest smash, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," Justin has everything he needs to achieve pop supremacy.

His first single, "One Time" produced by Tricky, is about one of Justin's favorite topics, puppy love. Usher joins Justin on "First Dance" where the two share verses on a song that Bieber describes as, "A slow groovy song that people can dance to." On the Midi-Mafia produced "Down to Earth" Justin digs deep to talk about growing up. "Bigger" finds the teenaged singer maturing at a steady rate, while motivating his listeners to strive for their goals.

"I'm looking forward to influencing others in a positive way," says Justin. "My message is you can do anything if you just put your mind to it. I grew up below the poverty line; I didn't have as much as other people did. I think it made me stronger as a person it built my character. Now I have a 4.0 grade point average and I want to go to college and just become a better person."

A virtually untapped well of natural artistic talent, Justin Bieber is primed to be a solid force in music for many years to come. "I think older people can appreciate my music because I really show my heart when I sing, and it's not corny," he says. "I think I can grow as an artist and my fans will grow with me." And just think, he's just getting started.

I don't know why there are so many haters out there, but this is a GREAT CD! And his next CD, My World 2.0 is 10 times better! So buy both- you'll love it ;) Some people say he sounds like a girl, but in my opinion I never thought that until I heard other people talking about how they thought that's how his music sounds. I just wish this CD had more songs! But the next one has way more.

I just want to say that I had bought the CD of Justin Bieber and he is very good. His voice is smooth as he sings high and low notes without screeching and he has a true singing voice that would make the older generation of the best singers proud of him and his talents.
He feels the songs he sings and makes you feel them too as you listen to him. I know who made the top charts in the generations and He ranks with Bing crosby, Dean Martin, The Four Lads, Frankie laine and with Stevie Wonder Elton John, and of course Michael Jackson and some of to days great singers. It's a pleasure to hear some one fresh and clean and perfect with his voice. I hope he keeps up this style of his for the future singers to idol his ways in real singing of songs for all to enjoy. I am 65 years and have heard all kinds of singers and musicians in my life and have a good collection of them. Justin is young and strong and I'm glade to add him to my music collection of the very best music in it's times.
Listen to his CDs and you may agree to what I think. WOW!!! (JV.)

I had to listen to this since my 7yr old daughter wants it. I don't really know how to judge this kid's music because there is so little music in it. Get rid of the Autotune and the programmed tracks and if there's anything left, I can judge that. Who really knows what talent this kid has if he cannot actually showcase it on his album? He seems to be mostly packaging--good looks, a little talent, and mostly good production and marketing. For the mature music listener, this just won't cut it.

My little girl loves JB, so she's collecting all of his CD's and knows almost all of his songs and it drives me nuts, but I know how it is. It's one of his earlier CD's (I think) but it's all the same to an 8 year old.

I really like Justin Bieber's voice. I think he sings well and has a good tonal quality. I like the first and last song on this album best of all. He has a lot of potential as an entertainer, musician and teen idol. Honestly I think he is still searching for his style and his particular genre of music. aHis first album is a very good attempt, and I look forward to his further contributions.

Want to be Justin Bieber's favorite girl? Then his new album, My World, will be perfect for you.

Released on November 17, 2009, Bieber's pop album contains eight songs, four of which were singles before they appeared on his album.

Included on the CD is "One Time", the first song on the album. It is about Bieber and a girl who is his "one love." "Favorite Girl," the second tune, talks about a girl who is better than the rest. The third melody, "Down to Earth", is about Bieber's relationship with his parents.

In "Bigger", the fourth number, Bieber sings about how he and his girl have grown up and are "big enough to stand next to love." "One Less Lonely Girl," My World's fifth track, is Bieber's attraction to only one girl, and how she will not be lonely if they get together. "First Dance," the sixth song, featuring Usher, tells the story of Bieber's first dance with his girl, at prom.

In the seventh piece, "Love Me," Bieber loves a girl and he wants her to love him, too. His last song, "Common Denominator," is about a girl who is the common denominator between Bieber and love.

Overall, My World is out of this world. The sweet lyrics are heart-warming, extremely catchy, and put you in a marvelous mood. The album also has a fine variety of slow and fast songs that make for superb listening.

One thing Bieber could work on in the future is to give his lyrics more variety. Every song, excluding "Down to Earth," is about a girl he likes, making the songs sound the same. Also, My World, overall, was not as good as Bieber's singles that came out before the album's release. Last, in "Favorite Girl," Bieber says his girl is, "[his] prize possession." This can anger girls everywhere, as girls are people, not objects.

What are you waiting for? My World is a great album to buy for $7.99. It helps that Justin Bieber is more than attractive, too.
