Why My Yoga Journal?
I created My Yoga Journal as it blends my favorite ways to heal: journaling and yoga. Both remind me that my feelings are not going to kill me. Ignoring them might, but sitting with them will not!
Yoga has helped me climb out of the mommy trenches and reconnect to the woman I am. The one who existed before she was a mother. It helped me realize that motherhood is part of me, not all of me. And Yoga has also helped me with the sense of loss and sadness that losing a family member brought. Yoga helps me sit with that hurt. It is not about finding balance in my life, but returning to center. Yoga for me is always about returning to center. Yoga helps me connect with who I am - no matter what new challenge or joy has arrived in my life.
Are You A Yoga Instructor?
No I am not. I love Yoga but I am not an instructor. That is why the book is not about poses or the practice of Yoga itself. I give some recommendations on where to find free Yoga resources that I really like on the web. The rest of the book is about planning your weekly practice and then journaling it. I left the journal part entirely up to the writer. You can write about your practice or the issues that came up during your practice. It is your journal, you get to use it as you like!
