The Myo gesture control armband reads the muscle activity in your forearm and gives you touch-free control of technology with hand gestures and motion. The Myo armband is one-size-fits-all, ages 12 and up.
The Myo armband uses exclusive gesture-based movements that are intuitive and easy to master. They’re based on five distinct hand gestures combined with motion. You’ll also feel when Myo is in sync with you through haptic feedback (with short, medium and long vibrations).
The armband is a lightweight and unobtrusive device (it weighs less than the average wristwatch) and includes a built-in rechargeable battery that offers all-day use.

Gesture Control Armband
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Building on work in the area of wearable technology that two of us (Matthew and Stephen) had done previously, the idea for the Myo armband was born out of fundamental question: How do we connect the real and the digital worlds as we move towards wearable and ubiquitous computing?
What makes your product special?
"With the Myo armband, we have made advances in technology to demonstrate the possibilities of interacting with digital devices without the use of touch, voice, or cameras. Today, the Myo armband can be used as a controller for home automation and entertainment, to seamlessly replace presentation remotes, to interact with video games and heads up displays in a natural and intuitive way, as a tool for controlling robotic devices and toys, and much more."
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
Getting the chance to work on technology that we’re truly passionate about. Even before we settled on working on Myo, the three of us had already decided that, upon graduation, we would start a technology company in some form, rather than taking a job or pursuing further studies. It was a risk, but we get to wake up every day and work on some of the coolest technology we can imagine, alongside an amazing team of people. There really isn't anything else we'd rather be doing.
