The Walker family takes a trip to Bath for Mr. Walker to attempt a cure for his gout and to give Josephine and her mother a change of scenery with the opportunity to make new friends. Mrs. Walker meets some friends from her childhood and Jo meets new friends who will remain close for years to come. Among the new friends is a very handsome Richard Pierce. A strong friendship develops between Jo and Richard as their vacation progresses. Even with the most diligent investigation by a loving father, sometimes the true nature of an individual is hard to discern. I don't like spoilers so I will go no further, but to say that the truth about many of the people in Jo's family and association builds into quite a impelling drama that will keep the reader involved long into the night. The story is a HEA for all involved but it takes a while to get there with all the twists and turns. Enjoy.
With so many major characters, the author has the reader anxiously waiting for the next development in the lives of this group of young people. At times I thought I had it all figured out, only to find that there was another turn in the road on this journey. Ms Winslow is a wonderful author.
