And it's the sight seeing that gets them into trouble. While touring London, Trixie spots a pick pocket. And then she starts seeing him everywhere he goes. Meanwhile, Trixie doesn't trust their new guide even though everyone else in the group loves him. What is going on?
As a kid, I remember this book not being one of my favorites in the series, but I didn't think it was that bad. Rereading it as an adult, the flaws are much greater. Only four of the Bob-Whites make the trip, which might be a blessing for those left behind. The characters are all slightly off, although Trixie is most noticeably off and several scenes involve her being a clueless American tourist. On the other hand, Miss Trask gets a great scene at the end I just love.
Then there's the plot. Really, nothing happens for much of the book except Trixie thinking something is happening and no one else believing her. Then, when things do happen, everything is so rushed that a few things are left dangling.
It's unfortunate that this book wasn't that good. A trip to England could have been exciting and different for the series. Sadly, it's only one for the die hard fans.
