Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, the first book in the Jenna James series, is a page turner that kept me glued to my Kindle for longer than my eyes could handle. Once the action took off, it never slowed down to a point I felt I could set it down and come back to it (though unfortunately I was forced to every once in a while- life does get in the way!). It’s been a while since I’ve read one of Linda Prather’s books and I have loved every one of them, but this is different than her others. It’s a legal thriller, even though it doesn’t have a lot of courtroom scenes. Starting with a murder, a corrupt judge, and a long line of unethical cover ups, Jenna goes after all of them, with the help of some loyal friends by her side. The action never stops and the story is one of the best I’ve read this year. Jenna James is a strong, likeable heroine and I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Bet you can't...Find Me: One of my all-time favorite books. I love Linda Prather's writing and I can't wait to get my hands on her next books. This one does not disappoint and had me reading late into the night. If you're a fan of Criminal Minds, this has a similar feel but with a psychic twist. If this piques your interest and you're a psychological thriller lover, you won't go wrong with this book or this author.
The Gifts: I picked this book up immediately after Sacred Secrets, the prequel to this one. It starts out with a horrific murder and Rob, Carl and Gavin hunting a serial killer they have been after for years. This time, he has hit close to home in more than one way. Gavin goes one way, searching for clues in a tiny town, while Rob and Carl go another way, searching in their own way. They all end up in danger, of course. The people Gavin meets in Glade Springs are all so interesting and all seem to have deep secrets. It makes for a great who-done-it as any one of them have things to hide and you never know who is going to come after Gavin and his new love, Sarah and her adorable little girl Nikki. This is another one of Prather's psychic thriller mysteries and I loved it. Some of it was a little sappy (and I know a lot of people don't like that kind of thing in their thrillers) but it fit in with the storyline really well. I would love to read more of Gavin and Sarah's story, if Ms. Prather has more plans for them (hint, hint!).
Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.
I believe I have to be Linda's number one fan, to me her writing is seamless and flows wonderfully. Her ability to involve the reader in her stories is second to none.
After reading Beyond A Reasonable Doubt - the first book in a new series of legal thrillers starring Assistant DA Jenna James - I have to say this is Linda's best book yet.
Jenna is a kick-ass Assistant DA caught up with a corrupt family headed up by of all people a former judge. Jenna gets entangled in a messy family web of deceit in which an innocent member of the family has been imprisoned for twenty-five years. When a member of the young man's family is killed in an accident, he is released from prison into Jenna's custody to attend the funeral, and that's where this fast-paced, non-stop thriller really begins.
You'll love all the twists and turns and the convincing characters, both good and bad, in this compelling, taut thriller.
Can't wait for the second book in the series which I believe is being written now.
Bet You Can't Find Me:
After reading and thoroughly enjoying Linda's other two novels The Gifts, A Jacody Ives Mystery (Jacody Ives Mysteries) and Sacred Secrets, A Jacody Ives Mystery (Jacody Ives Mysteries), I begged her to let me read and review her latest, Bet you can't... Find Me before it was released.
This novel is an intricately woven mystery that centres around psychic investigator Catherine Mans.
Catherine is often asked to assist in investigating current crimes by Sgt Cody Allen. Their most recent case turns out to have links to Catherine's sad childhood, a childhood that has caused much confusion to her over the years.
When strange circumstances start to affect Catherine's psychic abilities, and the body count rises, FBI special agent Brian Wilkes starts to suspect Catherine's role in the case.
Will she be able to seek out the answers she needs to crack this bizarre case or will she be arrested as the main suspect?
This is the third book of Linda's I've had the pleasure of reading and to be honest it's hard to choose which one I like the best.
Right from the very first page I was hooked by this story. An excellent supernatural thriller.
The suspenseful story revolves around Gavin McAllister who has to use his psychic abilities/dreams to save a girl and her mother.
I've come to learn that as far as characters and suspenseful plotting are concerned Linda really has her finger on the pulse. You'll find your pulse rate escalating during this fast-paced thriller.
Can't wait for the next book Linda.
