The cards are printed on a high quality card stock, in beautiful colors, and careful detailed individual designs. I'll include a picture of them laid out in good light to try to illustrate this. I have not seen a more fantastic design which makes a new user feel welcome and comfortable. This is my second deck, but if I could do it again, it would be my first. I'll include a picture of them laid out in good light to try to illustrate this.
Now on to the problems:
The cards are stuck together, and not just a little bit. Each card must be *carefully* pried away from it's neighbors. Doing this will flake some of the paint on the edges, and if you are too rough or hasty the cards will get bent at the corners or dented where your nails pry them apart. I'll add a short video of me doing this to show you what I mean. Recommended: Set aside time to look at and read about each card as you do this, to familiarize yourself with the cards and make your first practice readings easier. Just be careful, they will keep trying to stick together if not shuffled thoroughly.
The paint chipping fresh out of the box is concerning for some but I think will make every deck unique. Each one will wear differently and with practice the user can become intimately familiar with their personal deck.
The book is cute but small and not durable enough to last long. If I used it to read a card every time I draw a card this book would fall apart fast. The upside to that is the Mystic Mondays app is super user friendly and contains all the information needed in an easily accessible catalog. I'm just gonna toss mine and use a tumbled quartz to fill the empty space in the box, and double as a purifier.
Finally, the box is great and strong, and has a cute design, but it leaves the cards exposed, and so doesn't really keep them safe from stray liquids.
Last Thoughts: I would get it, but you need to think about if it fits what you want. Hope this helped.
First of all, the holographic foiling on the edges came out of the box damaged. It looks like the foil peeled off thinner in some places or maybe the cards got damaged before it fully set onto the card stock. It's visually distracting to see huge portions of the deck have a different finish than what was intended when all the cards are stacked together.
On top of that, it looks like a different size die was used to cut the suit of cups and The World. Those 15 cards don't show any of the damage the rest of the deck has on the foiling and they clearly stand out. When the deck is shuffled, none of the cards will line up together because of the size discrepancy. I shuffled a few times overhand and my dominant hand is covered in paper cuts because of this. That was a big surprise because this card stock is very thick.
I also had to be very careful when separating the cards because huge portions of the deck were stuck together. I had to bend the cards to make them come apart. The corners are damaged on the bigger cards (Cups and The World) which added to the jagged feeling of the deck as a whole. Initially I was going to seek a replacement, but after reading other reviews I see this has been an ongoing issue since this deck came out. Apparently the publisher/creator are fine putting out a sub-par product because I've never seen something like this before.
The guidebook is okay. It gives three keywords for upright meanings with a page of explanation and the same for the reversed interpretation of each card. But even the guidebook falls flat in my opinion because that's all it does. There's no discussion of spreads, shuffling, cutting, choosing from the top or fan, information on the designer, how to formulate an appropriate question, nothing. The card meanings don't even go into a description of the imagery to explain the symbolism. A complete beginner looking to buy this as her or his first deck would definitely need to consult other sources for this information. I understand that space is limited in guidebooks, but I have Little White Books from other decks that go into spreads, and how to shuffle and cut. Even if it's just a brief explanation of the One card draw; Past, Present, and Future; and the Celtic Cross, Little White Books normally take some time to explain the process of reading tarot cards and they have less space than the guidebook that came with this deck because they often have to include multiple languages. No attempt was made to do anything like that with the Mystic Mondays Tarot.
I also can't tell if this deck is meant to be scenic or pip style. Many of the minor arcana just show the emblem of the suit arranged in creative ways, but then some do show human figures in traditional Rider Waite Smith poses. That makes the design feel very inconsistent.
I did some research and apparently there have been quality issues since even before the deck was mass produced and available on Amazon. I'm beginning to think the creator of these cards doesn't actually read (ie, respect) tarot. Her interactions with dissatisfied customers have been very aggressive and unprofessional, which shows she doesn't value constructive criticism or the community she's supposed to be serving. It honestly feels like she saw an opportunity to make some money because there are many deck collectors in the tarot community and lots of us have been looking for decks with bright, vibrant colors. This deck had tons of potential, but didn't come close to reaching it.
There is an accompanying app, but it's just a digital version of the guidebook. There are no spreads. No tutorials. Just card of the day and the meanings for each card.
I was going to seek a replacement for this deck, but I think I'm just going to return it and get a refund. I'll just have to deal with the lazy seven of wands in the self published version. I don't want to get my hopes up again.

However once I opened the box and began un-packing the cards I was really dissapointed. The cards themselves were so hard to pull apart (I was scared I was going to damage them) and when I looked through there were some that were bent or had smudges from printing on them.
The book cover was also damaged with a large scuff mark right across the front.
It’s a shame because the artwork is magical, and I can’t wait to get reading with them. They just don’t feel as special now.
Glad I waited for the newer version as they are fantastic!
The backs of the card now give the look of a foil hologram design but are matte finish, which stops the cards sticking together so much.
The foil hologram design is still on the box but not on the guidebook. Also, the finger holes to slide the box open are now at the top and base of the box which will make the box look neat on your display shelf.
Not one card had any printing problems or scuff marks and after a few shuffles, minor sticking stopped.
Vibrant colours /designs and easy to read with.
I too experienced the cards being stuck together and it did take a bit of work getting them undone. But I always think that with use cards soften and relax and so this is not a problem. Enjoy your cards...
The deck came in a sturdy box with holographic details. The box is quite big and heavy, which feels nice and opens and closes easily which is a plus. Having a proper box with tarot decks is also nice because this is where I can keep the tarot deck and not worry about buying separate bags or boxes.
After opening the box, I found the guidebook. The size of the guidebook was something I didn't expect. It is thicker than any other guidebook I've seen in other decks. A lot of reviews mentioned that there was a feeling of the tarot deck being made just for the money, but just seeing the guidebook I felt that it can't be true.
The tarot themselves are very very nice. They are vibrant, colourful and they really catch your eye. Some of the cards were stuck together and required careful separation (the holographic sides are tender so do remove cards from each other with care). The deck feels very friendly and positive. Its the type of deck you want to get out at 3am when feeling down and take with you on holidays, to the beach. Even though the deck does feel somewhat tender and might fade/scratch over time, I think it's part of the charm.
Gorgeous deck and I really love the artwork. The box was slightly dented and some of the cards have printing imperfections and scratches on them though.
I bought these cards for the art and I'm not disappointed! I'm not a huge fan of iridescent edges as I find them a little overdone and unnecessary but they actually make the cards look very nice, and for some people even more mystical. BUT the guidebook is smaller than I imagined (I expected a proper A5 guidebook) and mainly the descriptions of cards are too focused on advise based on the card instead of an explanation of the cards. Meaning that there is only a sentence or two briefly explaining the card and then advise on what you should or shouldn't do, similarly to horoscopes. Personally I prefer proper card background and meaning explanation than specific advice (the book is also heavily expecting that the reader will be a woman - this also changed gender of the hanged man on the card for instance).
If you like this kind of mystical guidebooks, go for it. If you like the art style, go for it. I ended up buying a different guidebook but I'm loving these cards and their art style.
They are beautiful and very good size. Only thing was that the holographic coloring on the sides had made the cards stick together reeeally hard, but I managed to seperate them without ripping (thankfully!) Also I saw some mention in the reviews that the cards could have been matt, not glossy, I sure agree! It would bring out the holographic sides even better.
I really love the design and the holographic sides make me super happy. I like the booklet they come with and the message the cards have.
Thank you very much!
Minimal and yet makes such a huge impact. The colour depth and combinations are next level stunning, and the artist has a talent for creating images that speak volumes without being crowded or over the top.
Thick card stick, but still easy to shuffle. To be completely wholly grail, the cards would have had a smoother, more matt appearance, and these are glossy.
Still, these are just wonderful and visionary. Such lovely cards.
