Tug is a kid with a painful past, moves in with a aunt and uncle who striving to make ends meet, and send him off to another uncle .. so let me say who is a little different. Now the adventure begin. There are secret hiding places, crazy riddles, a "real" teddy bear, Leapold, and Nomes, not to be confused with Gnomes.
First the imaginary journey's and then the real ones--can they trust Uncle Oscar and who is Nan and Feldspar. What is up with the raven? Does Tug leave Jodie captive of the Nomes hidden deep underground? Does he come back for her and can they escape? Don't forget the stuffed bear (or is he). This is a great book, the first in a series, and it stands on its own. I know you will want to continue on the adventures!!
It has a wonderful Oz flavour and is filled with whimsy, delightful characters and locations, intriguing obstacles to overcome, and--no surprise--a wonderful touch of the mystical.
I can't help wanting to visit 3 Chimneys farm and Nan's tree, and I want to meet Leopold. <3
