This is the second time in 20+ years that I've purchased this double album masterpiece. This time around mainly because I wanted to be able to play "Jesus Was Way Cool" from "the cloud" without fooling with uploading it. Still entertaining, still worthwhile...even if I didn't have the early 90s memories of hearing it for the first time. And for you ADD Generation wtfever types, there are enough good songs on here to justify buying the whole thing. You kids get outta my yard and go listen to this.
As always, king missile is wildly innovative with their musical compositions. As F.Z. asks in his famous question, "Does humor belong in music?", I say - it worked for him, and it works for king missile! Any king missile fan needs to own all of their albums, this one included.
this album has so many great songs, from "jesus was way cool" to "wuss", i thought it was a wonderful album, through and through. If you like the quirkiness and fun of bands like They Might Be Giants, i think you'll find this pleasantly refreshing.
Endlich hab ich dieses Album auf CD, das ich vor Ewigkeiten in einem düsteren Independent-Store von einem Junkie empfohlen bekam. King Missile waren damals eine weitere großartige Band aus dem New Yorker Kramer-Umfeld (Bongwater) und produzierten daher auch einen ähnlichen Sound. Die psychedelischen Gitarrenorgien wurden dabei stets von ätzend sarkastischen, aber auch poetischen Texten begleitet, die sich dank der auffälligen und prägnanten Stimme des Sängers John S. Hall für immer ins Gedächtnis prägten. Wer den stinklangweiligen Gitarrenbrei, der heute als "Alternative" verscherbelt wird, einfach nicht mehr hören kann, sollte mal in diese CD reinhören. Es gibt immer noch schöne Dinge zu entdecken... jenseits von MTV.
