There are several small mysteries throughout the book that keep interest going, and the characters themselves keep you guessing as to what their motivations are, and what the real truth of what happened at Faverly is, and what is just legend, or Myth.
Many things seem straightforward, only to be revealed that there is more under the surface that it seems.
It's a really interesting story, with memorable characters, and a few big moments, including an ending that left me hoping for a return to Arden for more.
The Myth of Arden is an excellent fantasy novel: the first from author Susan Marie Strom. I loved it. It was unlike most of the fantasy I read, but it kept me guessing and I love what she’s come up with. I think there’s a very real chance you will too.
This book follows the lives of various characters in a mythical land. The story does a good job of weaving the mythical story that is the over-aching thread that is the backbone of the story with compelling characters that live both relatable and human experiences as well as encounter supernatural events.
The author skillfully weaves in concepts of what love truly is (spoiler: it isn't the sappy emotional love so often portrayed in movies) as well as looking at the difference between materialism and belief in the supernatural.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the fantasy genre.
