For those who prefer a roomy bottle with a smaller opening, we offer our narrow-mouth loop-top bottle. It offers all the same advantages as our wide-mouth, with a top that minimizes the chance of spills and a cap that never gets lost.
Not everyone likes the wide-mouth design of traditional Nalgene water bottles, which is one reason the company built the narrow-mouth Nalgene Tritan. Made of super-tough Eastman Tritan polycarbonate, the Tritan offers the same roomy interior as most Nalgenes, but with a narrow loop top that minimizes the chance of spills and a cap that never gets lost. In addition, the bottle's BPA-free construction is impact-, odor-, and stain-resistant, helping it withstand a wide range of temperatures (from -40 to 212 degrees F) and last for years. Finally, the bottle includes printed graduations on the side, making it easy measure water quantities. Recommended for extreme adventures, the Tritan bottle is available in a variety of vivacious colors.
About Nalgene Outdoor
Based in Rochester, N.Y., Nalgene was founded in 1949 as a manufacturer of the first plastic pipette holder. The company soon expanded its product line to include state-of-the-art polyethylene labware under the Nalgene brand. By the 1970s, outdoor enthusiasts had discovered the taste and odor-resistant, leakproof, and rugged properties of Nalgene's large selection of plastic containers. In response to this emerging demand, Nalgene created a Consumer Products Division. In the ensuing years, Nalgene created a full line of bottles that were perfect for storing everything from water to powdered drinks to pancake mix to shampoo.

I used to have some of the wide-mouthed Nalgene bottles (same size as these) but these are a big improvement over the wide-mouthed bottles for two reasons: (1) I spill these a lot less often, even if I'm doing something fairly active while I'm drinking from them and (2) these have many fewer ridges both around the rim and inside the cap, so they're MUCH easier to clean. One downside is that you may have trouble fitting ice through the narrow opening, if you are interested in adding ice to your drinks.
At any rate, these (I bought two of them) are a lovely color and a good size, they're easy to carry and you can't lose the caps, and they're free of BPA. The label says "dishwasher safe" but I don't think the inside of these would be cleaned very well in a dishwasher, so I am personally opting to wash mine by hand (and hopefully do a better job than with my last set of water bottles). I use them to carry iced herbal tea to work and I'm very happy with the purchase.
- Great capacity. I don't think I've ever drank an entire bottle full in one day, though maybe I would if it were my only container
- Narrow mouth is perfect. I actually feel like the wide mouth is the "standard" Nalgene look, and maybe the narrow mouth isn't as aesthetic, but it sure works better in every way.
- Tritan is great. It's lightweight, nearly indestructible (and will probably never ever biodegrade, for better or worse) and doesn't leave any plastic taste or BPA or anything.
- It's rather large and quite heavy with the water in it - so it's possibly a little large for daily use, depending on your schedule and lifestyle, not much of a con to this particular bottle, just something to be aware of.
Overall there's hardly anything to complain about it, it's near indestructible and just about everything you could need in a water bottle.
(Note to Nalgene manufacturers: The one-quart bottles are pretty huge, and the one pint bottles are kinda small. A 1.5 pint bottle would be the absolute perfect size, you don't need to make everything in even unit sizes!)
- Relatively indestructible (scratches kind of easily but never shatters)
- Large capacity
Be careful, however, not to place it on the bottom rack of the dishwasher because you can melt the cap, which will make the bottle leak. As a side note, it's difficult to find replacement caps for the narrow mouth b/c they're not as popular as the wide mouth caps. The plus of the narrow mouth is that you don't spill on yourself when you drink out of it. The con is that it's difficult to fit stuff in the bottle like ice or lemon.
I bought this "narrow mouth" bottle nearly a year AFTER my "wide mouth" and alternate them on a day-to-day basis, however, yesterday the "narrow mouth" bottle disintegrated after I dropped it on the floor. I use both bottles equally and both have faced the same daily wear-and-tear, yet my "wide mouth" bottle has literally nothing wrong with even after an additional year of use. Extremely disappointed that this happened. It seems like the "narrow mouth" bottles have cheaper construction, so I would recommend getting the "wide mouth" bottle and purchasing a third party "narrow mouth" top
