Will there ever be a great NASCAR game, especially on the console? With the hype of this game it's not looking very likely. With very simple options missing this game truly missed it's mark. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is for the hope it will be patched for playability.
-Ability to race at your favorite track(s) after some work of course
-Spotter is that of early EA Sports with horrible patchiness
-Random cautions with no inclination as to why
-If you wreck, don't expect a caution to fly
-Damage? I've seen it displayed on the HUD but cannot see it on the car
-Basic RPM gauge (Can see oil temp after pressing a few buttons, but not water temp)
-CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT VIEW YOU HAD IN THE PREVIOUS RACE! (Yup, you have to reset everything each race)
Downsides: you can't use the breaks without the car going sideways, you have to choose simulation or arcade. Or as I like to call them "loose or tight" because on simulation mode you do nothing but spin out and you can adjust your car set up. On arcade mode you can't turn the car at all since it's driving like a bulldozer and you can't touch your car set up at all. Seems like huge oversight to me.
-AI is pretty good, they actually race you which is nice, I've gotten bumped and dive bombed and it all depends on how you drive it seems like.
-graphics are pretty solid, I don't have an issue with them like some people have talked about. The experience is more important.
I really hope the developer read constructive reviews. I'd be more than happy to lend a full breakdown as a long time NASCAR and racing game player to the developers.
Online is completely horrible. Short track racing is impossible, people just wall ride and intentionally wreck and then drive backwards. No cautions [which is probably good, theres a wreck 5 seconds into green flag] and the car is extremely touchy.
You can not look around your car when driving. You only get HOOD, Cockpit [which doesn't have MPH], and 3rd person. Your spotter says "car outside" and thats it... theres no "still there, still there, okay clear."
This game honestly feels like an XBOX 360 or PS2 game. The smoke is extremely cartoonish and overused. The presentation of this game is really horrible for how much it is hyped up.
Also, Gamestop is only giving $20 trade in credit and it hasn't even been 24 hours..
Its my fault though, after NASCAR the Game, I should never have pre-ordered another NASCAR game
Negatives: NASCAR Heat feels like a backwards compatible game from the earliest of NASCAR games. Options are minimal, graphics are well below expectations for current systems, controls lack feedback.
I really wish I would not have pre-ordered because I am truly disappointed in the game play, graphics and overall development of this game. Only if I could get my money back.

I've played them all over the years, quite frankly most pretty much sucked, but, this one rocks
