#1 - you must have some sort of sandbag/weight on at least one leg to prevent it from tipping over. Even the relatively light weight reflector and arm were enough to cause this stand to topple over. Sure, you can hit a specific balance point where it holds its own and does't fall over -- but then you just cut out 99% of the flexible range of motion in which the versatility of a reflector is rendered useless.
#2 - you cannot (I repeat, CANNOT) fully extend the poles to their fullest height without the entire thing bending like a wobbly piece of precariousness. Anything beyond halfway and the poles are no longer straight. This also greatly reduces the possible range/height and usefulness of this stand. Pair that with the fact that the top section is too thin for my reflector arm to attach to (causing me to use the middle section and lose an entire 2' of height) and this "6-Foot Stand" in all reality only gives you a 3-foot stand.
It gets one star because it's true that it is a stand. It gets another star because it has the possibility of extending to 6 feet. It loses out on any additional stars because those two points on their own render it almost useless.
It seems as if once again, you get what you pay for. Will I go through the hassle to return a $12 stand? No. Will I find another use for it?Read more ›
I have a 43" reflector and when I mounted the boom arm to the stand with the reflector, the stand BENT!!!
Also, with the reflector and boom arm mounted the stand legs slowly inverted and sank to the floor, collapsing on themselves. And I don't even think a sandbag would keep this think upright, although I never bothered to get far enough to try one. Thank goodness I didn't have an expensive light mounted to it when it collapsed!!
This stand MAY be fine for holding a cheap speedlight you don't mind losing, but if you actually need something STURDY, keep looking!!!
Could it be better constructed? sure, but it's great for what it is.

Light weight stand for light strobes. Not meant for heavy strobes. I use it as a back up if in case I should need it for extra lighting.Published 20 months ago by Reader

Arrived broken. VERY cheap construction. I promptly returned mine & I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone. Spend a bit more and get something of better quality.Published on November 22, 2013 by M. Rader
Title says it all. The base popped off and a spring flew out. Didn't even get to use it, but poor build quality overall Returned it. 5 stars for Amazon Prime's returns.Published on September 10, 2013 by Chefnutta
