For me, I can't even get it to update and I have followed the instructions exactly. It acts like it is updating but nothing happens on the screen, so I am not sure if my cable is faulty or the system is having issues like so many other people are having. The fact that at the time of this writing, of the nine reviews on here, seven of those are having problems while two are not, makes it seem that 5% of people are NOT having issues with this Mega Pack as Tommo would claim on their Facebook page. I don't have Facebook so how am I supposed to contact them to report this issue? Their customer service e-mail seems to be very silent.
So in summary, this is a risky investment right now. If Tommo can fix the problems with this Mega Pack, it will be a great deal but with so many problems and issues, it is a waste of $80 dollars. Buy it at your own risk right now.
*UPDATE July 22nd, 2013* I wanted to be fair and update my review on here about the Neo Geo X Mega Pack. From the time I had to send in my system to the time I got it back, it was about two weeks total. I was a bit upset that the careful box I used to ship my handheld unit came back in a flimsy plastic bubble bag instead of a sturdy box, so I would recommend probably using the Mega Pack packaging to send your unit to them. I highly recommend you register the product as soon as you open it in case you do encounter the updating error then contact TOMMO.
The games work well after some play testing but I noticed some screen tearing at times using the old RGB cables and the unit seems to load games far, far slower now compared to before. Granted this is only at the beginning of choosing a game and exiting a game but it is still annoying. Of course, I grow up in the days of the Commodore 64 and early PC's so loading times really don't bother me much unless, the younger generation who feels waiting even an instant is far too much time may not want to think about buying this pack and just stick with the original 20 games on the main unit.
One of the big issues I have with this pack having the problem it did was, the inconvenience of having to send the unit in and not being told just why it doesn't work. Will the next Mega Pack collection have to have me send in the unit every time they release a new package of games? Is the flaw of updating in my unit forever? These are questions I am not sure will ever get answers and I only wonder if every time I will be sending in my unit to TOMMO to be updated this way. It really makes me nervous to buy the handheld unit (which continues to get pushed back and back) as a back up when I may have to send in that unit to be updated as well if I want to play these games on that one! I just don't know if I feel safe with this unit and the future of it... it's just a nagging feeling to me with the sloppiness of this release being bigger than TOMMO claiming it was.
Final verdict, although there are some questionable choices on this release for games (Metal Slug 2? Samurai Shodown 3? Another Super Sidekicks game? World Heroes 2 Jet? Sengoku 1?) the amount of great games on this release really makes it a better deal than getting them individually and the fact that The Last Blade 1 on this release is uncensored with blood and cutting people in half, makes it one great deal! After the disappointment of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special being with 'white sweat' instead of red blood, I hope in the future, TOMMO will go back and fix these releases and make them the way the Japanese release was without SNK's stupid censorship they were doing on many games in their series back in the day. When buying this, I would expect you may have to spend two weeks getting your handheld sent off to TOMMO and waiting for it to come back. As long as you are not in a hurry to play these games right away (if the update doesn't work, mind you) I would say, this is a great bundle of games for the price. Just know some difficulties may befall you when purchasing and give yourself the time it may need for your handheld to go on the trip it needs to be play the games you just bought.
