Two things:
1) With Netgear be careful who you purchase products through. I bought mine through an Amazon Reseller. Since they are not an authorized Netgear reseller Netgear will not honor their warranty, which includes support. If your N900 router doesn't work you are out of luck. This is most likely the last Netgear product I will every buy.

2) This was hard to configure. The very sparse setup sheet assumes everything works exactly as planned. If it doesn't, there is no information anywhere, no manual, not online support... nothing that will help you configure this system So if it doesn't respond to mywifiext.net try the IP addresses 192.168.1.251 and 192.168.1.240.

We bought this Netgear N900 so that we could wirelessly connect our Tivo, Blu-Ray and Television to our home network. They are all downstairs and the wireless router is upstairs. The Router we have is a Netgear WNDR4300. I unboxed the new device and plugged the Tivo Blu-Ray and TV into it with network cables and then connected the AC power adapter. Then I pressed the WPS button. Then I went up stairs and pressed the WPS button on the router. All done!. It connected instantly and all three devices were networked.

I bought two of these WNCE4004 units to replace Netgear WNHDE111 5GHz Entertainment adapters bought years ago, that worked without issue and impressed me with their performance. First, any setup or firmware upgrade has to be done on ethernet, hard wired connection, not WiFi connection. Second, it accepts, only, one network setup, so, you run your settings for your 2.4 GHz network or your 5 GHz network, but not both, or more than, just, one network.
Even after following these rules, both of my new units randomly drop their connection, at times two, three times in an hour or periods 4 to 5 hours with one connection drop, totally random and maddening for the user. One unit was put through a hard reset, held the reset button for seconds, until the unit lights flashed and factory defaults returned. Did a hard wired firmware upgrade and power off reset, then network settings. This lasted on the unit for two, three weeks of no dropped connections. Then slowly dropping connections returned, again, just frustrating.

I only have had it for 2 Days but so far it is working great. I am using it to link 2 printers I have in my basement office to my network. I did have my wireless router in the basement but I had poor signal upstairs in certain parts of my house. Now with the router upstairs I was able to connect the 2 printers to the WiFi adaptor, plug it in wait for the blinking green light, press the button on the adapter, then run upstairs and press the button on the Dlink router and just like magic, I can Print! No computer degree needed.

My new windows 8.1 pc wouldn't utilize the 5ghz channel on my netgear router, and I wanted to use it exclusively for my plex media server setup.
This solved my problem and I have seen speeds between it and my router up to 200mbs.
Way better than the 48mbps I got with the av2 powerline adapters I tried.

I bought this Netgear and another brand (for a few cents more) because I had no idea which would better meet my needs. I received both the same day and started with the other unit. It wouldn't connect at first, the Ethernet cable included with it was bad! I confirmed this with a spare cable I had.

The Netgear N900 connected right out of the box without any issues. I can turn it off and turn it back on - it connects within a minute and doesn't care that the router is in the basement on the other end of the house.

We haven't had a single issue with Netflix losing the connection since, either. The 'other' unit was returned for a refund the next day and I purchased another of these for the family room. Save yourself 4 cents...by the Netgear N900, not the other brand!

I've had these units running for almost 3 months now and put them both through all kinds of tests....power outages, reconfiguring WiFi, and relocating the device. I have never had a single problem with the adapter re-establishing the connections. I haven't noticed any kind of dropped signal watching Netflix, either.

These things are rock solid. I have noticed the price is higher than what I paid, but still well worth it. IMHO.

WEAK SIGNAL RECEPTION - I have 4 of the single netgear wireless adapters that work well enough; and bought this to try and consolidate things a bit inside the entertainment center. It will not sync to the wireless router wpa in the very next room not 15' away. Very disapointing

Bought about 18 months ago; works perfectly... we can stream Netflix to the projector, play WII U online (we connected the WII U by wire to the N900 to get 5G connection), and print to the wired network printer through this device - really no issues. I think it's maybe lost connection two or three times but we just push the WPS on the router and the N900 and start playing again - very easy & quick to connect.
