More Capacity for 20+ WiFi Devices
4 WiFi streams give you 2X the capacity of previous WiFi. More streams greatly increase the bandwidth available to your devices and the amount of data you can send and receive. Now there's nothing to hold you back from a true high-speed internet experience.
More Efficiency, Less Congestion
Say goodbye to slow connections when a houseful of devices are sharing WiFi. EAX20 features new OFDMA technology that makes sharing WiFi bandwidth much more efficient. It significantly increases the amount of data that can be sent and received by your devices at the same time, and prevents annoying connection delays.
Smart Roaming with Mesh Technology
Simplify and stay connected with one network name and auto-switching to your base network.

As a extender, there is no option to extend both the primary ssid and the guest network. It’s one or the other. There also does not appear to have back haul over Ethernet.
What I was expecting was that I could hard wire the eax20 to the rax20, and it would extend all the setting of the rax20. The same ssid, security and password for both primary and guest network should have been extended.
Side note, when I did have it setup as either an ap or an extender, my device stayed connected to the router’s signal until I manually disconnected WiFi and reconnected. As I walked past the ap the signal from the router dropped to 50Mbps. I disconnected and reconnected to the ap at 450Mbps.
Returned and going back to my 1/3 the price Engenius ap that has much more features.
Some caveats: I advise setting up the device using the Netgear Installation Assistant, where you connect wirelessly to the device and then go step by step to connect to your existing network. Netgear points you to their Nighthawk app, which you download on your phone and then continue with the setup. I prefer a direct connection to a network device when configuring it.
And the BIG caveat: If the device advises there's a firmware update available, ignore it. I originally bought my first EAX20 directly from Netgear. Went through the setup and all was well. At the end of the setup it advertised a firmware update and I said yes. What should've happened was the device updates, reboots and all is well. What happened is the device updated, rebooted and never woke up again. It was stuck in a boot loop. Factory reset didn't work. 6+hours over 2 days on the phone w/Netgear support, going through their advanced "baseline reset procedure" didn't work. I finally got to return it to Netgear for a refund. Bought one from Amazon, set it up, IGNORING the firmware update and it's worked flawlessly. That was "the first one" I bought. With the second one, the firmware was different from the factory b/c it didn't advertise a FW update during the setup process.
How ironic that the manufacturer's firmware update bricks their own device. This is a GREAT WiFi extender. There's no fan, so it's completely silent and it doesn't even get warm. It works GREAT. Just don't update the thing.
Netgear's support was borderline awful. While they advertise 90 free support, finding their support number is near impossible. Once connected, the bad phone connection and language barrier made troubleshooting very, very difficult.
