About the author

Behavioral changes and/or lifestyle changes won't get you into heaven. Committing your life to Jesus or trying to stop sinning will not get you there, either. No amount of repenting of sins or quitting bad habits will help get you one inch closer to heaven--period. God said so. GOOD NEWS! The instant you believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead in order to pay for your sins, He saves you forever--you will never go to hell; instead, you will live with Him in heaven for eternity. Here is your guarantee: "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him" (1 Thessalonians 4:14). God loves you "so much" that He will give you everlasting life regardless of whether you live for Him or not. In this book, I use His own words--not mine.
Hello! My name is Michael Patrick Bowen, and I'm the author of the book entitled "I NEVER KNEW YOU: The Horror Of The Great White Throne Judgement And How You Can Avoid It." I wrote this book so that people may know what Jesus Christ, Himself, said to us concerning how to be born again (or in the Greek, anothen, which means to be "born of God"). Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter 3 of the Bible that he had to be born again. He then later told him that He (Jesus) would be "lifted up" (on a cross to die and rise again to pay for the sins of the world). Here is the most amazing thing of all: anybody who believes (or in the Greek, pisteuo, which means to trust) that Jesus (the Son of God; the Messiah) died and rose again from the dead--to pay for your sins and to give you a home in heaven when you die--is saved (born again) the very instant that he/she believes that He did this for him/her. THAT is His gift to you for trusting in Jesus Christ (specifically in what He accomplished for you by His death, burial and resurrection from the dead).
The gift of everlasting life is just that--it's a gift. Numerous people say that getting born again is "too easy," or "there must be more to it than just trusting that Jesus died and rose again." To them I say this: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast"(Ephesians 2:8-9). Notice how God (through Paul) tells us that everlasting life is a "gift," and that it is NOT of works, deeds, discipleship, or behavioral changes. If any of those things were required to be saved, then none of us would be able to get born again. We sin every day, either by acts of commission or omission--we can't help it; we're all sinners who are in need of a "Savior." Jesus Christ IS THAT SAVIOR. Isaiah 64:6 tells us that even our best righteous deeds are as "filthy rags" in God's eyes; therefore, God will not recognize our works, our discipleship, or any other self-efforts when it comes to imputing (crediting) His righteousness to our accounts.
Did you know that we must be "as righteous as" God is in order to enter His heaven? In heaven, there is no sin; likewise, there is no death, no crime, etc.; it is a perfect place where God lives. How can we be seen by God as being "as righteous as" He is? Would turning from your sins (or being willing to or trying your best to quit them) make you as righteous as He is? No, it won't work. Even if you could avoid sinning for the rest of your life, what about the sins you've already committed? "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). You see, all the sins you've committed in your lifetime are still in His books; therefore, turning from sin, asking Him into your heart or life, or becoming a disciple would never "erase your criminal records." You must have your criminal records ERASED in order to enter into His heaven. Jesus, the Son of God (i.e., literally God in human flesh) paid for ALL of our sins (past/present/future) when He died on the cross. His dead body was buried. After three days in the grave, Jesus arose from the dead.
THE INSTANT you trust that He did this for "you"--to erase your sin record and to give you a home in heaven, that is EXACTLY what He does. You have His guarantee! "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). THERE is His "guarantee." You have His good name, word, and reputation on this guarantee. If any additional steps were involved, such as quitting your bad habits and promising to forsake all and becoming a disciple, then Jesus Christ would have listed those "extra things" in John 3:16 (where He was telling Nicodemus specifically how to be born again); else, Jesus Christ lied to us--or He made a very horrible mistake of omission; however, we know from Titus 1:2 that He cannot lie; therefore, Jesus is not capable of lying or of making mistakes--He is "God," after all, and He is not capable of any error (or sin).
When I tell my readers that they must trust Jesus Christ as their Savior--as their only hope of ever reaching heaven--I'm simply telling you the exact same thing that God the Father says in His Bible. I'm telling you what Jesus Christ said, as well as what He said through all of the human beings He chose to write His Word through. The gift of everlasting life is FREE to all who trust that Jesus Christ died and rose again for their sins. Period.
It's so easy to understand that small children can grasp it; however, because Satan specializes in perverting God's Word and the minds of human beings, he does his best to convince all of humanity to live the "Christian Lifestyle" without ever getting born again in the first place. How cruel, and how sad, that he does this, yet when I or others like me stand up and tell the world what Jesus says in terms of how to be born again, we are ridiculed, harassed, given bad reviews, and are spoken ill of. So be it. I've done my duty. Your duty now, if you're reading this, is to decide whether or not you will put your trust in what a man or a woman tells you, or whether or not you'll put your trust in what Jesus Christ (God Himself) says to you concerning how to be born again. Either they are right and Jesus is wrong, or they are wrong and Jesus is right. Think about it, please. All men and women are capable of making mistakes, and many fall for erroneous teachings based upon satanically inspired lies; however, Jesus Christ is not capable of lying or of making mistakes.
Why not trust the "One" who never told a lie and who never made a mistake--the "One" who shed His blood, died, and rose again for "you." Why not trust Him? You have His guarantee, but you have no guarantee, at all, if you put your faith in what men or women say. Trust only in what Jesus says--never trust what people say.
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him" (1 Thessalonians 4:14). THE INSTANT THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT JESUS DIED AND ROSE AGAIN TO PAY FOR YOUR SINS AND TO GIVE YOU A HOME IN HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE, HE SAVES YOU.

There is a Gospel that saves, and there are versions of the gospel that preachers put forward as saving, but because they have added human works, those other versions are damning to the souls of those who follow. The SAVING GOSPEL is this: God came down to earth, took on human form, went willingly to that Roman Cross with all of mankind's sin on Him, and willingly died in our place. Jesus was buried, spent three days and nights in that tomb, and then God raised Him from the dead to verify all of that. Why was all of that done? So that God could forgive all of mankind's sin - from Adam to the last soul born. Your part is to believe (trust) in Jesus finished cross work as your only hope of salvation.
Here is the message most pastors offer for salvation. "Believe on Jesus, feel sorry for your sins, turn from your sins, ask Jesus into your heart and make Him you Lord, and you will go to heaven." Do you see the difference? The pastors have placed several "price tags" on God's gift of salvation, thereby nullifying grace.
Preachers are playing a game of bait-and-switch, wherein they claim to believe in Christ alone, faith alone, grace alone, but then heap upon the Pew-Sitter burdens that give no assurance of salvation. And I agree with Michael that most Pew-Sitters were never saved but do a wonderful job of pretending to be saved. They desire salvation, and they believe their improper understanding of the gospel of grace, but they don't get the "IT" of "It is finished."
Confused? I am a recovering Pharisee. I am 72 years old and way back in 1971 I knelt in front of the TV and repeated Rex Humbard's salvation prayer. I attended dozens of churches and several denominations, but there was always a gnawing question that no pastor would answer. "How and when are my sins forgiven?" I would sit through sermons week after week, and then I would clean out the dozens of scraps of paper I'd scribbled notes on during the sermons. That same question kept popping up. "How and when are my sins forgiven?"
The answers I got ranged from the most popular..."Well you either have un-confessed sins on your account or you lack faith." Great! When I asked about the faith part, the pastor told me that my faith had to be of a certain type and a certain quantity to count. So I asked about confession...whether God gets tired of me coming back again and again with the same confession. The pastor just shook his head. No help at all. It was Luke 11:46 & 52.
I struggled for nearly 40 years - never knowing if my sins were forgiven. What changed? I stopped asking the Pharisee Pastors and went to the Bible where I discovered that all sin - the sin of every human being to ever breathe and live from eternity past to eternity future is already forgiven, and that forgiveness happened in a moment when Jesus cried our, "It is finished!" My sins were not forgiven that day in 1971 as I knelt in front of the TV and prayed a so-called salvation prayer. My sins were not forgiven as I forgave others who sinned against me. My sins were not forgiven when I confessed them, asked to be forgiven, or begged to be forgiven. All of my sins were forgiven at the same instant everybody's sins were forgiven, 2,000 years ago on that Roman Cross. Now - this has tremendous implications.
First, none of us owe God anything for forgiving us. It was a gift. Second, God is out of the forgiveness of sin business. Third, every soul in heaven and hell are forgiven. Does any of that offend you? Read on.
At this point you may be asking the obvious question: "If everybody's sins are already forgiven, then doesn't that mean everybody is going to heaven?" NO! Forgiveness of sin and salvation are two separate and distinct things. Probably the best example of this is the two thieves on the crosses next to Jesus. One went to heaven and the other went to hell. Why? What was the difference? One believed in Who Jesus was and what He was doing. The other did not. Over and over the Bible tells us that our salvation happens when we believe in/upon Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection. But your belief must be placed in/upon the Biblical Jesus, not a false Jesus created in a seminary by the mind of sinful man. What am I saying? Since what I am about to tell you makes the difference between heaven or hell, read carefully.
God forgave all sin at the cross when Jesus - as Lamb of God, took away the sin of the world. That is the Jesus you must believe in to be saved. If you believe in another Jesus - one who only died for the elect, or who doles out forgiveness in a progressive manner as the Pew-Sitter jumps through and over the impossible hurdles and hoops of the "Pharisee religion of works" - you are believing in an idol - a different Jesus - that can't save. Change Jesus or the Gospel just a little and He becomes just another false god.
Jude 14 is a chilling verse because it says, "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His Saints." When you consider that the Old and New Testament prophets knew how to describe millions, that verse in Jude is a dire warning. Jesus said that the gate and road are straight and narrow and few will enter in (paraphrase). For this reason, every one who reads this comment had better re-evaluate how and when their sins were forgiven. Have it right and like the penitent thief you'll go to heaven. Have it wrong and you will go to hell. And all because you trusted in a counterfeit Jesus that the Pharisee Pastor changed and presented to you.
Finally, the obvious question. Why will Jesus tell you that He didn't know you? Because you didn't know Him.
You are warned. Open your King James Bible and learn - possibly for the first time - Who the real Jesus is.
There are too many false plans of salvation being taught in churches today that are not in line with God's word. As a result, many are following these teachings, and as a result are not saved. Adding or taking away anything from God's plan of salvation will only lead you into hell. Bro Bowen talks about several of the false plans being taught today by some of the most popular religious speakers and shows why they are different from what the Bible teaches. Even though what they are teaching “sounds right”, they are glaringly different from what God’s word teaches and will result in one not being saved. Many of these false teachers are household names.
There are millions of people attending churches today that have religion, but not salvation. Religion wants to fit us with glasses, but the Lord wants to open our eyes. I get very discouraged at my church with several men because they either teach repentance wrong, or they teach a false plan of salvation. I have brought this to the attention of my pastor.
Salvation IS easy. Salvation is not something you work for to achieve. Salvation is receiving Christ's payment for our sins by trusting in Him alone. Jesus Christ came from heaven as God almighty in the flesh. Jesus died on the cross and shed His precious blood and paid the sin debt of the whole world, He was buried (officiating His death), then He rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Jesus Christ is victory over sin and death so that everyone that trust in Him alone will have eternal life. If you believe that he did this for you then you will be saved eternally (John 3:16).
Thank you Bro. Bowen for stepping up and writing an excellent book!
Mr. Bowen's ability to over present (in a good way) the simplicity of the salvation message is one I truly appreciate. In our day and time there is so much confusion concerning salvation in our country that this book was very much needed. You achieved the main goal of your book Mr Bowen, and I for one cannot recommend it highly enough.
There are a few issues I have with this book. Some of the authors examples are a bit off putting. For example, he used a personal relationship disappointment to try and show that if one believes in the wrong message of salvation Christ will 'dump you' on the last day (his terminology). I agree with his conclusion for correct theology and the need for the over all integrity of Gods salvation message. I don't believe he presents this point well through that specific example.
Some have commented that he is too repetitive in this book, and there is truth to that. However, the simplicity of the salvation message has been clouded by so many 'works' based theologians that I understand why he does that.
Overall this is easily I four star book, and well worth reading.
