Designed By A Physical Therapist For Optimal Performance - Increases blood flow and tissue extensibility - Decrease chronic pain and post workout soreness - EPE 35kg density foam that won't break down and won't lose shape with use Self Myofascial Release The application of this foam roll allows both athletes and chronic pain sufferers a way to use their own body weight to remove active trigger points and promote overall greater tissue extensibility throughout the body. Trigger points are sections of a muscle which remain contracted throughout the day and cause the spread of pain through various patterns on the body which is referred to as radicular symptoms. These symptoms can range from deep aching pain, burning, soreness, postural pain, and headaches. Deep pressure through the application of a foam roller causes muscular relaxation and forces trigger points to release and the body can then remove the lactic acid and other metabolites which have built up in the tissue. ***BONUS GIFTS*** - Each order comes with: - An Introduction to Myofascial Release PDF - A Foam roller Introductory Stretching Guide PDF - Link to a video with Advanced Foam Roller Stretches The ONLY Foam Roller Backed by a Lifetime No-Hassle Free Replacement Guarantee Click the Button at the Top of this Page to Start Living a More Pain Free Life

But most of us live in the real world and can afford an occasional massage, if ever. And, sad to say, some "massage therapists" aren't really very well-trained or effective. Massage has to go deep to be truly therapeutic. Is it realistic to think that you can perform a DIY massage on yourself? I think it is, but you have to be prepared to put some time and effort into it.
This foam roller is sturdy and a good size. When you buy it, you have access to a video that shows a number of techniques for using it to massage the muscles in your legs, back, and neck. They are demonstrated by a VERY handsome young man (not that I was looking) and the camera work is good. It's easy to see exactly how he is doing each of the twelve exercises. The video lasts a little over seven minutes, but don't plan on getting the full benefit of using the roller in that short time. For one thing, the video edits out the transitions between exercises. For another thing, some of the exercises are demonstrated on only one side. Obviously, you will have to switch and do them on BOTH sides.
So first you put your PC or iPad or whatever down on the floor so that you can see it. If you can "pause" that would be great. Otherwise, you will probably have to watch one or two exercises and turn it off while you practice and then go on to the next one or two. I did it that way. I've watched it five times and I'm beginning to work out a routine for myself.
The advantages to using this roller are that it's a low-cost, easy-to-store piece of exercise equipment that doesn't require much space or special clothing. I do use a yoga mat, but I have hardwood floors. Carpet should be fine. It also doesn't require good balance. After all, you're lying on the floor, not using it for a log-rolling contest. (I hope.) And it IS effective. Remember that you are using your own body weight (and most of us have plenty of that) to put pressure on your muscles.
The only disadvantages I can think of are that you have to be able to get down on the floor (and back up, obviously.) Also some of the leg exercises require that you put some of your weight on your shoulders and wrists. Since I am vulnerable in those areas, I modify those exercises somewhat. You are the best judge of what you can do safely.
**** I was given a free sample of this product in exchange for an honest review.**** I honestly think it's a great product, but simply OWNING one won't make a bit of difference. You have to use it regularly to get the benefits. I do believe it's helping me enough to make it worth my time to use it every day.
My husband and I used it for exercises prescribed by our Physical Therapist.
These exercises included using the roller to massage our mid-backs and lying atop of the roller with it aligned it under our spines while gently rocking side-to-side.
My husband and I are not big people. He weighs about 170 and I weigh about 135.
However, after less than 3 months of use, the roller collapsed. See the attached photos.
I am extremely disappointed in the quality of this product. It was a waste of my money. I urge you not to waste your money on this roller and to buy this one instead: OPTP PFR36B Pro-Roller Standard Density Foam Roller, Blue
