Editorial Reviews

Take an astounding look at the red planet in this interplanetary adventure that picks up where Mars Dead or Alive left off. Mission Control and its two robotic explorers face a daunting task to find proof that liquid water, the essential ingredient of life, once existed on Mars. Welcome to Mars presents a compelling inside story of triumph and technical ingenuity, full of scientific and human drama, with stunning images from an alien world.

How many stars would you give NOVA?? Gee, how many are there in the sky?? That's how many.

There's a reason programs like this are only on PBS: thought-provoking, informative, issue-oriented, that goes well deeper than the normal junk you find on TV. Programs like NOVA are "what make America great."

I might not watch all of the programs on NOVA (programs on insects for example), but for the vast majority of topics available on NOVA, ALL are typically top-notch.

WARNING: Watch only if you wish to learn and have your horizons expanded.

Nova generally has the best science programming around. The visuals support the material rather than just eye candy as most other US science programming is. The British and Canadian programs are generally better than the US programs I'm sorry to say. Nova is the wonderful exception. Highly recommended!

I watched all these episodes on my kindle and I enjoyed them. The show has high production values and is only a little dated on a few episodes, mainly due to the choice of music used. Overall I like this show quite a bit because of its scientific approach to explaining things in an entertaining way.

Interesting and informative, but a fair amount of repeated footage and sensationalism in the "killer tornado" episode. It kept my daughter's attention though, so perhaps this was a good trade off.

With all the mindless shows on today, this show is so refreshing. It manages to be very educational and do it in such a tone as to avoid being a boring monotone documentary. I highly recommend this show.

This series has educated me and my family for years. For the most part they explain things in layman's terms and together with their excellent graphics provide a wonderful learning tool for me that will be 70 in July. I am able to explain what "black holes" are as well as "Event Horizons". Terms taken from their Cosmos series. Just wonderful!

Great to view back-to-back with Mars: Dead or Alive.

I don't see why PBS charges so much for their Nova dvds-I'm not rich and can't afford their prices. I got this used like the few other Novas I own...
