Didn't feel comfortable inhaling it.. Thus is no way close to lavender smell.. There is some kinda chemical mused with this.
I trusted the brand and bought it blindly..
Do not buy.. I will rather do some research and buy a genuine product as this can harm our body for just buying something cheaper.
Here are my notes on Lavender:
GABA like affect on amygdala (Tisserand, 1988 based on L. angustifolia)
demonstrated anxiety alleviation in patients during the first but not 2nd or 3rd session in intensive care units (1% L. angustifolia aromatherapy treatment). (Dunn et al., 2005)
Increased mood scores and reduced psychological stress following aromatherapy (tea tree, rosemary and L. angustifolia oils) (Walsh and Willson 1999)
Lavendar rated as a plesant smell, 88% thought it had a positive effect on the ward (Ismaili et al. 2007)
3 min odour more relaxed, decreased anxiety scores, better moods, increased alpha power on EEGs (indication of increased drowsiness). Sented rooms showed increase speed and accuracy of calculations compaired to jasmine or unsented rooms (Diego et al. 1998)
Oils high in 1,8-cineole (L. latifolia) helpful in treatment of chronic or intractable pain (Buckle 1999), and in small uncontrolled studies showed with or without massage to reduce perception of pain.
Massage with L. angustifolia reduced patient's perception of pain and improved perception of sleep quality and well-being in those suffering the effects of chronic rheumatoid arthritis (perception was improved, rather then quantitative data from a visual analogue scale which did not show improvements (Brownfield 1998)
Linalool inhibit acetylcholine release and alter ion channels at neuromuscular junction (Re et al., 2000)
Local anaesthetic activity in vitro and in vivo with suggested mechanism of action related to antimuscarinic activity of Na or Ca2+ (Ghelardini et al 1999)
Antispasmodic actions on both intestinal (ileum) and uterine smooth muscle in animal studies, and have been suggested to be why there is a relaxant effect in humans (Lis-Balchin and Hart, 1999). Effect was not adrenergic or cholinergic or calcium or potassium) but rather increase in intracellular cAMP.
Linalool and linalyl are rapidly absorbed by massage and reach peak plasma level at 19 min (Jager et al., 1992)
Linalyl acetate has narcotic actions and linalool has sedative (Tisserand and Balacs 1999, Re et al., 2000)
I use it in body oils, face oils (mixed with jojoba, rosehip seed and sweet almond oils), put it on the screen of my dehumidifier to freshen the air and release some of those antiseptic and decongestant qualities (I have allergies), add it to my homemade arthritis rub to reduce inflammation and pain and it's simply a staple in my household because I love the scent!
