I dislike the texture of deodorant under my armpits, so I've been wearing it as sparingly as possible for a few years, but for the past five or six months I've completely gone without.

While I'm a cleanly person, bathing at least daily, the fact that I work in a hot kitchen doing physical work left me smelling by the end of a long shift, and while it wasn't extremely foul, I know that it had to be noticeable to others as it was to myself.

I began rubbing this deodorant on liberally after my morning shower, and I can now attest that I have zero body odor.

If you don't like the feeling of deodorant, or are looking for an unscented deodorant that will still allow you to freely sweat, then I highly recommend this product. Going from no deodorant to this, and working in an environment that causes profuse sweating, it handled my rigorous trial with great results.

It's also extremely economical.

As an alum stone this brand is not any better or worse than any other "crystal" or "rock" deodorant. I like that this stone does not come embedded in a plastic applicator and I plan on storing mine in a glass jar in the medicine cabinet. However, I was disappointed at all the superfluous plastic involved in the packaging of the stone. I was under the impression that since the stock photo shows paperboard packaging that it wouldn't come sealed in a plastic pouch with a low quality and unrecyclable plastic tray/stand inside of the paperboard box. I admit that one of the reasons I purchased the "NOW Foods" brand deodorant stone is because I believed it came solely packaged in paperboard, and that is simply not true. The stone itself comes in an interesting cube shape and works better for me than other popular natural brands of deodorant that use baking soda as one of the active ingredients (rashes typically ensue). I would hope that "NOW Foods" brand considers the use of plastics in the packaging of this product and similarly come to find the plastic obsolete.

This deodorant can last for up to 48 hours I'd say if you aren't doing any physical activity. Otherwise this is a once a day deodorant stone. And I'm not sure if this is meant to be long lasting, but I'm used to using NOW products once every few days and this just doesn't last as long. I understand this is maybe a presumption based on past experience with the company. But I just thought I should get the word out for other peoples converting from NOW's long lasting deodorant to this salt based one. It does, however work very well when it does work. All you have to do it wet it down a little and rub it on. Plus the stuff doesn't get on your hands and all over everything else like the semi-solid stuff from NOW. My only other issue is the strange shape. It's a cube. Not that you can't apply it fairly easily, it just doesn't fit in the hand very well. And it's going to be very difficult when it gets smaller. All in all, this stone should last quite a while.

Go ahead and use this product if you don't want to continue having skin under your arms. This rugged stone will scratch up your underarms leaving you with bloody pits. Making you more worried about blood then sweat showing threw your clothes. This product is horrible. I recommend this to people who dont like their arm pits. The makers oh this deodorant stone need some serious counseling

After using this product for 4 weeks, I have stopped carrying a stick of "just in case" Sure anti persperant to work.

I am a 41 year old male, and I WILL SWEAT if I forget anti perspirant, but now after 4 weeks or so am thoroughly convinced that this natural product works, and works well.

The ultimate test came this past weekend when I played drums at a gig in a bar that was hot... no worries, and no odor. And we rocked some faces off.

So stop spending 2.00 every month or so, for a manufactured stick that may or may not carry health risks. Being that this works well, will cost less in the long run, and is natural, in retrospect it is an easy buying decision.

So far no obvious wear, just rub it in your armpits after a shower and know that you are protected all day, naturally.

I've always had trouble with scented antiperspirants/deodorants causing horrible rashes so I was stuck using "unscented" varieties which always left an unpleasant smell on me and my clothing. A friend of mine mentioned her husband having the same problem and recommended trying a stone. I finally got around to purchasing one and wish I had tried it sooner. I LOVE IT! It took about a week for my sweat glands to adjust... wet, wet, wet, even when I didn't feel hot- but never any odor! Now I only perspire when overheated, still no smell- ever! I live in Memphis which is known for its heat and humidity and just got back from a scorching vacation in DC (97-101 degree temps) and still no smell. I converted my teenage daughter and hope the hubby will get on board as well. Easy to travel with and last a long time. I don't recommend sitting the stone on the plastic tray it comes with as it will make the bottom rough.

Like the other reviewers, I was initially skeptical of this product but have been pleasantly surprised by how well it works. Note, however, that it's not an antiperspirant (despite the fact that it contains aluminum), but a deodorant; I notice that when I use the stone I definitely sweat more profusely than when I use Sure, but I never detect any kind of unpleasant odor--and my shirts aren't getting stained as they do with antiperspirants. I really love it!

One further comment, a few months down the line: this thing seems to be lasting forever. I've been using it daily for months, and it doesn't seem to have shrunk at all. I can't imagine why anyone would want to continue to use mainstream antiperspirants!
