Internal usage: I take this before (recommended dosage), during and after my monthly cycle. By doing so, I have been getting less cramps, and smoother cycles. This has also regulated my cycle and put me on a 28 day cycle rather than the 39 day cycle I used to be on prior to taking this Vitamin C. I have also used this to induce my menstrual cycle during my attempts to regulate it, it worked fantastically.
Why I take it internally: Not only is Vitamin C essential, but most of us don't get enough of it daily. Don't fall for any gimmicks companies give you about Vitamin C. If they claim that their product is packed with it, it is most likely unnatural. Even if it is packed with the Vitamin C, it will have no positive or negative affect on you because Vitamin C loses it powerful affects it is "activated", (kind of like food when it goes bad, except this doesn't change in color or odor - not from my experience, at least!) The best source of Vitamin C is through naturally grown fruits and vegetables, if you don't get enough Pure Ascorbic Acid is a superb addition to your diet.
How I make my cocktail: I pour the recommended dosage in a small cup, a bit bigger than a shot glass, fill it with enough water to dissolve the crystals, stir into the crystals are dissolved and then I shoot it immediately. Remember, Vitamin C loses affect quickly so carrying dissolved to go won't benefit you in any way. I don't add sugar, juice or anything else but enough water to down it. Then, I drink a bottle of water.
Pros: It will tone down acne, balance the oils on your face, and it will keep colds and other viruses at bay. It is also essential to have a substantial amount of Vitamin C a day.
Cons: Possible cramps and flatulence, (your body will expel the excess it does not absorb in one way or another).
Caution: If ingested excessively over a long period of time, it may cause kidney stones. Also, it will give you bad stomach aches.
Results: A healthier you.
External usage: I use this on my face, once a week to tone and balance my skin. It also keeps my acne to a minimum to none. It has helped lighten some acne scars that I had back in college from high school and more recent scars, which is a GREAT plus. The results are, smaller pores, smoother, brighter and toned skin.
Why I use it externally: Skincare products that claim to have Vitamin C don't work, if they do it isn't the Vitamin C. As mentioned before, Vitamin C loses effect quickly. It is an essential part of our diet that most people do not get daily. Even if a substantial amount is ingested daily, some people have skin conditions or need a "boost" in their skin care routine to maintain a healthy glow naturally.
How I make my cocktail: I stand over steamed water (not too hot, just enough to open your pores) for 30 seconds, then I pour a dime size amount onto my hands, straight from the tub. I dab the crystals onto my face until areas affected are covered evenly. I gently massage into skin using a circular motion, until fully absorbed. Wet hands with warm water to help absorb crystals if necessary.
Pros: Tones and brightens skin, heals acne faster, buffs away excess dead skin, very exfoliating.
Cons: Stings and burns at times, can open pores TOO much, can be harsh on skin and make conditions worse.
Caution: If excessively used, skin may become damaged. Pores will get bigger, blackheads will be more visible, acne will worsen. Do not use on open wounds, cuts, scrapes etc. Do not use daily after the first week of use. (The first week I used this daily for three days, after that, my skin became damaged...healed within a week!)
Results: Smooth, supple, hydrated skin.
Bottom line: This is a huge bang for your buck because you can use it for multiple reasons, I've also used this on my hair once. I had lightened it in the past, and it took the color right out (I mixed it with zinc, but the Vitamin C works alone) and voila, back to my natural shade. You can use it to take dye out, and lighten hair that turned out darker than what you had anticipated. I also add it to Dr. Bronner's while cleaning. It brightens anything and is tough on grease.
