I subscribed to this product a couple of years ago. I have been taking ginseng for over 40 years and KNOW what good ginseng is. The subscription was cancelled by the company some time back and the product became unavailable. The product I had received before was high quality Panax ginseng. One taste told me so. HOWEVER............. When the product once again became available some months later, I once again ordered it expecting the same quality product. It WASN'T! The ginseng in these capsules doesn't even taste like ginseng. If it has good panax in it, it is so diluted as to be unrecognizable. It was once a great product and the reviews are probably from the former product. Unless they have returned to their former product, I highly recommend that you avoid this purchase as it has degraded considerably with it's reappearance on the market.

I like the price. 250 capsules for the price of 60.
I don't like the product. If you have ever bought ginseng before, you know that it is a brown powder that has a unique ginger-like smell.
These pills have WHITE POWDER and NO ODOR. Also, it doesn't seem to have a stimulating effect as I usually get.
So I ask you, what is in here?

So, I recently gave birth and usually after that happens the body's hormones start to go back to normal and I notice my hair starting to thin, which is normal for me ( this was my third baby) but I ran out of ginseng . Thinking it was going to be alright! Wrong, my hair thinning became worse! And I did some research and ginseng is amazing for hormonal balance. So I order more and the issue seem to resolve after taking it again. Plus it's great for energy and I truly do feel it, I love this product.

This product seems really weak and doesn't even have the typical funky odor of ginseng which isn't very encouraging. I took 2000mg for 3 days straight after trying a typical 1000mg and still only noticed a minimal effect which would indicate this product is very low in % ginsinosides. A decent deal for how much you get but whats the point if you have to take 3x as much.

I feel that sometimes when I write raving reviews as do others, the prices seem to go up. I hope that does not happen in this instance as I feel others should know what I know about this supplement. My husband was diagnosed with cerebral vascular Dx, 1 1/2 years ago, the micro vessels in his brain break, and cause memory loss, confusion, etc. There is no cure but they want him to be as healthy otherwise as possible and the recommended herbal supplements most of which I had on hand because I had been trying to find something to enhance our memory functions, but they had not made any difference to me, that I could tell, but I let DH take them and I saw little to no difference until , out of the other herbs I gave him the ginseng I had stock piled over the years, but guess what? I began to see a noticeable difference in his behavior. They are helping him to heal after incidences and because of that I am going to take them too.

Unwanted side effects and quality issues

As a whole, this product has worked not super great for me, as there were some undesirable side effects. First, this product changed my personality in that it caused me to become insensitive and rude without me really noticing and caused me to become hyper and unfocused. Although it did increase my memory, it also gave me ADD/Asperger's-like behaviors, which makes it not really worth taking.

Additionally, I get a feeling that this is not authentic pure ginseng root. This product does not really seem to contain ginseng (as told by smell, taste, color, texture, etc...) compared to other ginseng products I have tried, which have much better effects with limited side effects. To be honest I'm not too sure what is in these capsules. I would definitely recommend that people use other products. Typically the more expensive the ginseng, the higher the quality of root, but you need to use a lot less of it.

Panax ginseng, the ginseng, also known as Asian ginseng, Chinese ginseng, or Korean ginseng, is a species of plant whose root is the original source of ginseng. It is a perennial plant that grows in the mountains of East Asia. The most common side effect is trouble sleeping (insomnia). Less commonly, people experience menstrual problems, breast pain, increased heart rate, high or low blood pressure, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhea, itching, rash, dizziness, mood changes, vaginal bleeding, and other side effects. Ginseng can alter the effects of blood pressure, diabetes, and heart medications, including calcium channel blockers such as nifedipine. Never mix ginseng and heart medications without first consulting a doctor. The herb can also increase the risk of bleeding when taken with blood thinners, such as warfarin or aspirin.

great, but I don't particularly notice anything

Ginseng is one of those herbs that I've used on and off for 20 years. I must say, every time I've tried it, and from every company, I can't identify any noticeable effects. Every few years I read something else positive about it and I try it again. In my experience, the effects are anywhere from placebo to mild. I've also never had a negative experience with ginseng. No negative side effects. From what I can tell, it doesn't help much, but doesn't hurt either. Perhaps has mild adaptogenic effects I'm not noticing. If it helps support adrenals, great, but I don't particularly notice anything. Not an herb I would recommend, but I would also say I'm not aware of any downside and some people feel they benefit from it, so if you want to give it a shot, there's nothing to lose but a few bucks. NOW's ginseng is pretty cheap, and they seem to be a reputable company.
