I am not loyal to any particular brand of bromelain yet. This may be a dumb thing to focus on, but I greatly dislike the packaging. The top is not a screw-on. It is a pop-on and I have to make sure I push it down if I want to seal the bottle. I would not have purchased this bottle if I had bothered to look closer. This seems a weird place to cut costs. I’ve yet to run across a similar vitamin bottle.

After following a rather simple routine I came across online, my gout episodes have decreased from 2 - 3 bad episodes over a span of 18 months to 0, 20 months and counting. Before I go into the 3 part maintenance program, let me first warn you that this simple and healthy alternative to prescription drugs will not work, or I should say, most likely, won't work, if you don't modify your diet, that is to say, this is not a miracle drug that will allow you to drink as much beer and whiskey as you please or eat tons of rich dark turkey meat and brown gravy, giblets or high salted processed foods like Vienna Sausages or sweet breads, but if you are looking for an easy to follow remedy that will allow you to have a scotch once in a while or perhaps indulge in something rich and savory, without worrying about a painful gout episode, you may consider the following program.

3 Bromelain 2400GDU/500mg daily 1 morning, 1 afternoon and 1 anytime between 5PM - 9PM (with dinner)

2 oz daily of R.W. Knudsen JUST BLACK CHERRY this brand is available at my local grocery store. It does not have to be the same brand, but what it MUST be is 100% juice. Don't be deceived by the front label that may claim 100% fruit juice or 100% Juice, go directly to the Nutrition Label and read the INGREDIENTS section, the product should consist of a single ingredient "juice from ripe whole black cherries" if anything else is listed put the bottle back on the shelf and seek another until you find the singular ingredient under the ingredients section of the Nutrition label.

1 tablespoon of Bragg Organic RAW Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar (except no substitute) twice a day morning and dinner time, add to 8oz of water and sip, you may also take the ACV straight from the tablespoon, but sipping it with water adds an additional benefit, it also prevents acid reflux, which folks with gout tend to also suffer from.

At the early warning signs of an attack take 3 Bromelain 2400 Gdu/500mg at morning at afternoon at dinner and 2 before bed and increase black cherry juice to 16 - 20 oz daily, ACV remains the same, repeat this program for 3 to 5 days then return to maintenance dosage.

Full disclosure: I am not a nutritionist, a doctor or a person involved in the health industry. This program in addition to a gout friendly diet, has worked for me and it may work for you.

I have been using NOW Bromelain 2400 Gdu/500mg, because it comes in the correct prescribed dosage I discovered online. The caps are easy to swallow and keep nicely in the fridge (where I keep several spare bottles). Before coming across NOW, I paid a lot more for a lot less in over priced Health Stores, none of which contain the proper single capsule dosage required for the system to be effective.

One more thing, gout no gout, it is a good idea to drink at least 8 8 0z glasses of water daily and more if it is on a day you intend to drink alcohol or partake in strenuous exercise which could lead to dehydration.

I write this review to help others suffering from Arthritis pain and swelling. My mom had been suffering from arthritis in her hands for 15 years now and in the last 2 years she has been unable to even hold a plate. Shes broken so many dishes and cups trying to wash them. Shes tried everything her doctor told her to, and nothing ever seems to help. So 6 months ago, I bought her these Bromelain caps to try. I told her to take 3 caps on empty stomach 1.5 hours before eating, and at least 2 hours after eating. It has to be on empty stomach so that it can "eat up" the inflammation. If taken with food, it will lose its "eating" ability because it is being absorbed with the food. So we decided she should take 3 caps, 3 times a day for first 2 weeks. *NOTE*:It takes some time because it has to remove the layers of inflammation, depending on how bad you have it. So after 18 days, the swelling that kept her up at night reduced down to 50%, and her pain went from a 10 to 7. After 35 days, swelling down to 25% and pain from 7 to 5. And after 2 months, her swelling is at 10%, and pain went from a 5 to 3. After 5 months, her swelling ranges from 4-6%, she can still feel a little bit but not much, and her pain scale is now down to 1. For the last month, she has lowered the dosage to only 2-3 caps a day to maintain. So if youre desperate, and nothing esle is working, give this a chance to work for you. And use them on an empty stomach and give it a couple hours before filling your stomach to eat up the inflammation. I am now begging to suffer from arthritis in my right hand and I started taking them yesterday. I took 6 yesterday and went to bed. My swelling went down 25%. It will take time but I know it will eventually go away.

Started taking a few weeks ago. At first I thought it might have helped, but then I've had some very painful days with my lumbar arthritis, and major brain fog and depression since then. I just happened to take an Everlywell Food Sensitivity test this week because I was fed up with feeling like this, and just got back the results. Pineapple was near the top of my sensitivities at a score of 121 along with Milk and Banana. Strange, I thought, I hardly ever eat pineapple (and I was aware that higher consumption of a sensitive food increases the score on the test). Then it hit me that Bromelain is from pineapple. Now my meat scores were all pretty low on the sensitivity scale. Curious if the supplement may have impacted them to be so low, since it is supposed to help in digestion of proteins. I hope not, as I will no longer be taking this supplement.
